A Sainsbury Shopping Sunday

No more curry for me.
And so Sunday arrives and the back is not really any better that it was yesterday. I did not have a bad nights sleep last night I woke once at about 5.30 for the bathroom but the back was very achey and painful getting out of bed, Once I am up on my feet and lying/sitting it is Ok it is the Getting Up/Sitting down when it is giving me problems, so will probably phone the GP tomorrow to see what he has to say, also it has come to my attention that Chicken Korma and my Digestive System are not compatible. LOL.

David Cameron
well there we go that is the start of my day, hopefully it will get better as the day goes on, I have no carer coming today so after going back to sleep about 6.00 I wake again at 8.45 so make a coffee and take back to bed and lie listening to the radio until 9.15 when I get up and dressed and into the lounge with another coffee, I just have a Banana for breakfast today and then Put on the TV to listen to the end of the Andrew Marr show. David Cameron is being interviewed and as usual will not give a straight answer to any Questions put to him regarding Welfare, The NHS, and Child Benefits. the man is a waste of space and really has not got a clue.

Anyway Once that program finishes I log onto the internet to check out my emails and also Facebook to see who is around and to catch up on "Words With Friends" I see that facebook is up to its old tricks again I noticed today (as others have) that face book are putting messages in our "Update Status" message boxes on our FB Page and Timeline, It is sod all to do with them How I am feeling , what,s going on, or how I am doing. They are not on my FB Friends list so Facebook "Mind your own Business"

Anyway Gordon Phoned to say that they were leaving for Salisbury to visit friends at about 10.30, and Pauline phoned later to say that they were in Salisbury and the Journey up went OK. Anyway The Back has eased a bit after taking a couple of Paracetamol so I take a slow walk with the stick round to Tesco Express to get a paper and then back home to relax with a coffee and get the Crossword done. I am also watching some old episodes of Outnumbered.
Outnumbered with Hugh Dennis.
I get a Phone call from Gervase to see How I am and to say he will be round about 1.00 to 1.30 and if I feel up to it we can go and get some shopping, so I get myself some Jam and Toast for lunch as the Tummy is still a bit iffy after the curry last Night, and I know I should know better and I knew what would happen but sometimes you just got to be a bit irresponsible and put up with the consequences.

So I have my toast and jam and then go and have a shave and get changed ready for when Gervase arrives, He arrives at 1.20 and is quite willing to go and get whatever shopping I need but I need to have a little time out of the flat and it will do me good to have a change of scenery so we decide to go down to Sainsburys in Commercial road, as I have not been there for a bit and I would like to see what there "Gluten Free" area is like. So off we go.
Approaching Sainsburys in Portsmouth city centre.
Once we are in the car park and parked up I walk into the store with Gervase where we collect a wheelchair and Trolley and then make our way around the store, I have not got to get a lot and Gervase only needs cat litter, so we get what we want and then have a look at there free from section, they have a decent range of items and I get some Porridge, Jaffa cakes, Almond Slices and also a Gluten free Chicken Hot Pot, I am certainly impressed with there Gluten free range so will make sure I visit there at least once a month, I am lucky in as much as I have Tesco, Sainsburys and Morrisons all close together and between those three and Asda at Fratton I can get most Gluten free Items I need. Once we have got everything we make our way to the checkout and then into the car park to load it in the car. Gervase takes the trolley and wheelchair back while I wait in the car and then we head home via a trip along the seafront, it is nice with the window open and a nice breeze blowing in.
Sainsbury,s Store and Car Park (Stock Photo)
Once we are home I make a coffee an get the shopping put away and then me and Gervase has a chat before Gervase makes his way home to Leanne and I settle down to get this Journal written

Gluten Free Diet

Well that is now almost 4 days that I have been totally Gluten Free. and I am surprised to say that is has not been as hard to find Gluten free items in the stores, although it is the prices that they charge which I find  the most off putting, although I gfind that although it adds extra time to do the shopping, if I really look at the labels on items there are many "Gluten Free" items on the shelves which are everyday items, ie Baxter,s Soups, Knorr stock cubes etc and these are at regular prices and of course fresh produce is Gluten free. so I am pleased with the way it is going apart from the curry last night so although it was Gluten free, I think Spicy food is a No No.
Here are the pictures of the Gluten free Items I got from the Free From Section in Sainsburys Today.
Jaffa Cakes and Almond Slices

Instant Porridge Oats

Chicken HotPot
I will add regular updates on how my gluten free diet just in case you are interested and now it is 6.00 pm so time to get this journal finished and Posted before getting my dinner on to cook, it will be Salmon tonight, nice and light and easy to cook and I am looking forward to it so until tomorrow my friends

Whooo Hoo its Saturday "again"

To the lounge
well here we are then folks and it is Saturday, I had a "so so" night last night, woke up a couple of times with my back but apart from that I slept pretty well and was awake properly by 7.30, so made a coffee and stayed in bed until 8.00 listening to the local radio before making my way into the lounge with a coffee to await the arrival of Carol my carer.

While waiting for Carol I log on to the internet and check out my emails and am surprised to find that Fedx has tried several times to deliver a parcel to me and I need to send them details via email to have it delivered, big problem is they really should learn to spell properly LOL. and if I contact the american lottery I will be $5,000,000 better off Whooo Hoo I am rich, must send them my bank details as soon as I can "Ye Right"

Todays Breakfast
Once I have deleted all the spam emails and checked out Facebook I make another coffee and then Carol arrives, she is running late today as she has been given some extra clients this morning before me so does not arrive until 9.30, anyway she is a bit fed up but at least she finishes at lunchtime today so she soon gets me sorted for the day ahead and then she is off to her next client that she should have been at 15 minutes ago. Once Carol has gone I text Pauline and then get some Gluten Free Porridge for breakfast.

Well I enjoyed that Porridge so once I have finished that I get the breakfast items washed up and then get dressed and decide to take a couple of Paracetamol to ease the back pain and then I take a slow walk round to Tesco Express to get my Morning Paper, and then once I have that I get mack home, pour a glass of Apple juice and settle down to read the paper and get the crossword Done. at 10.30 Pauline phones to say all is Ok but Gordon could not sleep properly again last night so had to take a tablet at 1.00 am and is now still asleep in bed.
I Have my Morning Paper
Electric Bread Maker
well once the paper is read and the crossword is done, the rest of the morning is taken up with playing around on Facebook until 1.00 when I get myself a Bacon Buttey for lunch using my Gluten free bread, anyhow as you know I was saying on an earlier blog how expensive it was well Dave, who is one of the people in the Myositis FB groups was suggesting that I may think about getting a bread maker, well I am now seriously thinking about that as I can get Gluten free flour in Tesco. so Thank you Dave, I will have to look at that when I am down town on Tuesday with Pauline.

Tonights dinner
Once I have had Lunch I go for a lie down until 2.00 when I get up and decide to go round to the Tesco Express again and see if there is anything round there that I can get for dinner tonight, as I really fancy something a bit tasty tonight, so of I go and after looking at so many items that contain Gluten it is nice to see that there is a Chicken Korma Curry that has not got Gluten listed in the Allergy Advice box or in the ingredients so I get that so I will certainly enjoy the taste as it is a long time since I had a curry so I might give the Laxido a miss tonight LOL.

well once I have that and am back home I decide that I will have a cup of tea and a Greek Yoghurt and then I spend the rest of the afternoon watching repeats of episodes of Friends. These go on until 6.00 when it will be time to take the Lansoprazole prior to having dinner at 6.00.
Friends Season 4 Ross gets married in London
well it is now 5.25 and I need to get this journal finished and Posted so until tomorrow I will say cheerio and have a good Day or evening depending on which time zone you are in as I know that this journal is read around the world.

The Worst of two Evils.

Well here we are on The first Freaky Friday of the new year and on top of that it is also the day of the dentist appointment so In my diary the day will go down as the Worst of two evils.
Restless Night
well after a very enjoyable day apart from pulling the muscle in my back by twisting awkwardly in the wheelchair I went down to spend a couple of hours with my Gervase and Leanne at there house in Southsea yesterday evening and Leanne,s dad Dave was there and he gave me a lift home at about 9.30 so it was a coffee and a couple of Paracetamol for the back pain and into bed by 10.15. I had a reasonable sleep the back pain got me up a couple of times through the night but hopefully that will ease of over the weekend anyway I was up at 8.00 with a coffee and Paracetamol and in the lounge ready for carol the carer to arrive.

Frank Recording
"Freaky Friday Twist"
anyway while I am waiting for Carol to arrive I check my emails and also Facebook, I hope Carol is on time this morning as I have my sister and her friend Chris coming about 9.30 as they are taking me to the Dentist as I have to have two extractions today and the appointment is at 10.00 am. anyway as luck would have it Carol arrives at about 9.00 so that is OK, we have a chat and then Carol gets me sorted ready for the Freaky Friday Routine I was thinking that if Chubby checker can record the song "Twist again" perhaps I should record a song " Freaky Friday Twist"

♬♬  Come on lets freak again, like we did last Friday ♬♬
♬♬ Come on lets Freak again, Like we did last week ♬♬
♬♬ Do you remember when, Every thing was normal ♬♬
♬♬ Come on lets Freak again, Freaky Fridays here ♬♬

Oh dear you all cry with glee, Frankie,s flipped again well maybe I have and maybe I Haven't all I know is that I am not looking forward to the Dentist and the Methotrexate, it makes you wonder which one is the  worst of the two evils, anyway Pauline Phones to wish me luck, Gordon did not sleep well last night, but they are up to Salisbury today for work as they have to make up for yesterday, so once Pauline is off the phone My Sister Eileen and Chris arrives it is now 9.20 so we have time for a chat, They have got some magnetic signs made for the van so that advertises there company "Decima Designs" and there craft courses they run from there studio in Drayton.

Open wide please.
At 9.40 we leave to go to the Dentist,s it takes about 10 minutes to get there so we are a bit early and the receptionist said he is running a bit late so we have about a 20 minute wait, Once they call me in I go in and get ready for the Extractions but he has decided that it would probably not be wise to do the extractions today As it is my methotrexate day so we will make an appointment for next month on a monday so today he does a descale and clean and also a filling so that is probably for the best so it means I can take my Methotrexate at lunchtime today.

Thank goodness that is over
anyway once back home I make a coffee for Eileen and me and a tea for Chris and we sit and have a chat for half an hour, it feels funny with the left side of my face numb from the local anesthetic anyway hopefully it will wear of fairly quickly as it was only a small injection. anyway once we have finished our coffee,s Eileen and chris make a move and I go for a lie down as my back is a bit painful at the moment. anyway I text pauline to let her know all is OK and lie down listening to the radio for 30 minutes before going round to tesco express to get the paper, at least the Numbness is wearing off. once I have the Paper I get back indoors make another coffee and then settle down with the paper and get the crosswords done.

it is soon 1.30 and time to get some lunch I only want something light so I have a Toasted bacon Sandwich with some Baxter,s chicken broth all Gluten free and I used the Gluten free loaf of bred I got at Morrisons yesterday it is made by walburtons, It is a small white  sliced loaf, and they also do brown, it is very nice but the price is very expensive at £2.48 Walburtons also do a brown sliced loaf and Muffins They also do a Gluten Free Fruit loaf and Fruited Tea cakes.

anyway once I have finished Lunch I take my 15 mg of Methotrexate and then just settle down in front of the TV for the rest of the afternoon, Pauline texts at about 4.45 to say that they have made good progress and are just coming into Portsmouth.
anyway it is now 5.40 I have not had any reaction to the Methotrexate so far today so hopefully today will be a good Methotrexate Friday, anyway I am going to get this journal posted and then have a bit of a lie down before getting dinner sorted at 6.30 so until hopefully a better Saturday I will say Adios.

The First 2013 Shopping Day

 Freedom at Last.
Yes, Yes, Yes, It is shopping day today with Pauline down at the City centre and then Morrisons. We have not been down to Portsmouth city centre since last Thursday, so looking forward to the trip out today and spending a couple of hours away from the Flat.
Todays Breakfast
It was a decent nights sleep last night, got of to bed about 10.30 was awake until about 11.30 listening to radio solent before turning the radio off and getting to sleep by midnight, woke about 3.30 for the bathroom and then back to sleep until 6.45 when I was awake, made a coffee and took back to bed and listened to the radio until 8.00 when I made my way into the lounge to catch up on the Breakfast news on the BBC1 until Carol my carer arrives at 8.45. She has a busy day ahead of her today, so we have a chat and then she gets me groomed ready for the day ahead, and then she is on her way to her next client, and I get myself some Gluten free cornflakes for breakfast.

Once I have finished Breakfast, I text Pauline and then settle to watch an episode of Wanted Down Under on BBC 1. this is a series of documentary programs where a family from england spend a week in either Australia or New Zealand to see if moving there from the UK is something they want to do. It is a different family each week, and today it was a family of 5 from Yorkshire spending a week in New Zealand.
Wanted Down under on BBC1 this morning at 09.15
Wakey, Wakey Gordon.
Well Pauline phones back and Gordon has decided not to go into work today as He still feels a bit drowsy after taking his sleeping tablet last night, Pauline said he went to bed about 10.30 and slept solidly until 7.30 this morning got up back is now back in bed fast asleep and it is now 9.30 in fact Gordon ended up sleeping through until about mid day so he obviously needed the sleep, anyway as his doctor said he should not take a tablet if he is working the next day so he won,t be taking one tonight as he needs to catch up with work tomorrow.

Getting Ready for when
Pauline arrives with Taxi.
Before pauline goes to take misty for her morning walk she said that she will book a taxi for 11.15 to come and collect me and we can then go down to Portsmouth City centre to get the bits and pieces done and then over to Morrisons to get the food shopping. so I get out the laptop and check out emails and Facebook until 10.45 when it is time to have a shave and get dressed ready for when pauline gets here about 11.30, as she is going to the doctors surgery on the way to pick up my Prescription for Methotrexate and Lansoprazole, so we can get it made up at Boots the chemist when we are down town.

Pauline arrives at about 11.35 so we get the wheelchair into the taxi and off we go down to commercial road precinct in the city centre. we get the taxi to drop us of at the back of boots in Paradise street, and while Pauline takes my prescription in to Boots Pharmacy to be made up I go with the wheelchair down to the Nationwide to sort out a few bits and Pieces.
The Back of Boots the Chemist and Pharmacy with nationwide at the far end

Pauline meets me in the Nationwide and we take a slow walk down the precinct to Barclays, and while I go in there to sort out some things Pauline goes over to Wilkinsons to get some items for Misty the labrador  and Charlie the cat. Once I have completed my Business in Barclays I go outside and wait in the wheelchair by the Jubilee Fountain for Pauline, While I am waiting I have a coffee from the mobile Coffee Bar. nearby.

And in 1964
Once Pauline comes back from wilkinsons we make our way to Boots to collect my Medication and then Pauline pushes me in the wheelchair over to Morrisons at the Victory retail park at the end of the city centre.
Morrisons at the Victory retail Park.

Once we get their we decide to have a snack before doing the shopping so we get a coffee each and Pauline has a sandwich and I have a small Sausage, Chips and Beans, and I really enjoyed that, it was only a child,s portion but just right for me and it means I can just have a light snack for dinner tonight and also a light supper. so very pleased with myself.

Anyway once we finish lunch we go round and get the food shopping and then once we have paid and got outside I phone City wide for a taxi to take us home. Once home I make us both a coffee and get the shopping put away, pauline then helps to take the christmas tree down and then I phone for a taxi to take her home. Once Pauline has gone It is 4.00 so I make a coffee and then settle down to get this journal written and posted before getting a snack at 6.00.

It is now 5.40 so I am going to get this journal posted and just to say It has been a good day today, nice to be out in the fresh air and although cloudy it was mild and dry and we were out for a good 3.5 hours so I will say goodbye until tomorrow when I also have a dental appointment to have 2 extractions, not looking forward to that but it has to be done as the medication has really done a number on my teeth.

Wednesday comes, And Wednesday Goes

And here we are into the second day of Wednesday well it has been a decent start to the new year and I am looking forward to hopefully seeing more sunshine and less rain than I did in 2012. well  after the Late night on Monday night I intended to have an early night last night but then noticed that "Miranda" and also "Mrs Browns Boys were on TV so in the end did not get to bed until 11.00.

"Miranda" Series 3 Episode 2

"Mrs Browns Boys" Series 3 Episode 1
Anyway I had a decent nights sleep last night, when I eventually got to bed and slept through until 7.30 when I got up to make a coffee and went back to bed, it was only when I looked at the clock and saw it was 8.20 that I suddenly realised that the carer was coming today so big rush to get myself up and into my trousers and dressing gown and into the lounge before Carol my carer gets here
A Good Nights sleep.

My Carer waving goodbye
Anyway once into the lounge with a coffee I wait for carol to arrive. Carol arrives at about 8.45 and she has had a good new year, she worked over Christmas but had New Year off and she is back to work today, anyway we have a nice chat and then she gets my face and neck washed and grooms my hair and puts the cream on my legs and then she is on her way to her next client and I go and get some Porridge for breakfast.

Once I have had breakfast I send the text to Pauline and she phones back to say that all is Ok there except that Gordon did not have a good night and had not gone into work today, so hopefully he will feel better later, anyway once we have finished talking I get myself dressed and take a walk round to Tesco Express to get my daily Paper and also some Salmon for dinner tonight, as being New Years day Yesterday we did not do our normal Tuesday shop,  once back home I make a coffee and then relax in the recliner with the Laptop to catch up on my emails and Facebook, and listening to Radio Solent, It seems that the increases of fares on public transport has already started as season Ticket Rail fares were increased today by an average of 4.5%. This will affect Gervase as He commutes from Portsmouth to Haywards Heath every day for work which is about a 2 hour journey each way.
Don't miss your train Gervase
Chicken soup for lunch
Anyway it has been a decent Morning I have read the Paper, Done the crosswords, Caught up on Face book, sorted out the emails and now I will phone pauline to see how gordon is before getting some lunch, I phone Pauline and Gordon is going to see the doctor tonight about 5.30 so hopefully they may be able to give him something to help him sleep. once I have spoken to Pauline I go out to the Kitchen and get some chicken soup for Lunch with 3 crisp bread and it goes down very nicely, once I have finished that I get the lunch things washed up and prepare the vegetable for dinner before going for a cat nap for an hour.

So I have a nice lie down for an hour and it is now 3.30 so I go into the Lounge to watch some TV, they are showing some old episodes of "The Good Life" which is an old sit com that was on in the mid 1970,s. and I also phone Leanne and see how she is getting on now that gervase is back at work, as she does not go back to work until next Monday, and then I start to get todays Journal written as it is now 4.20.
The Good Life 1975-1978 Sitcom
Salmon Tonight
Well there we go then, It has been a decent Day, Gervase phoned to say that he will come in and see me on the way home from Work, and gordon Phone to say that he got on OK at the doctors and has some sleeping Med,s to help him sleep, so I now need to get this Journal finished and Posted before getting dinner sorted, I am having Salmon Tonight with Three veg so that should be tasty and then I will have a nice evening of TV so until tomorrow and a busy day shopping down the city centre with Pauline I will say Good Bye.

Welcome to 2013

Lets Party
Hello Folks and welcome to 2013, out with the old and in with the new. I hope you all have a happy, healthy and exciting New year and if all else fails just remember one thing
It is only 358 days to christmas and we can do it all again, exciting ain't it.

As you regular readers of my daily journal will have noticed is that there is different picture at the top of the blog, this is a view of one of the 3 main roads onto Portsea Island from the mainland. this is entrance off of the M27 Motorway. A new start to a new year.

Well I managed to stay up until midnight to see in the new year, I was watching the live coverage of the firework,s in London. I went out into the street to exchange greetings with some of the Neighbours.

Two Photographs of the fireworks in london

Once I was back indoors, Pauline Phoned to wish me happy new year and then it was off to bed, had a good nights sleep and slept through until about 8.45 waking once about 6.30 for the bathroom so had a nice lie in again, but must remember the carer is back tomorrow so no more lie in,s for me.

So Today is January the first 2013 and it is my brother pat,s 66th birthday today, He is a avid golfer hence the cartoon greeting for him, I did send him a Birthday card by Snail Mail as well

The Morning Paper
so anyway, up and into the lounge with a coffee, TV and Laptop on and a couple of weetabix for breakfast, not going to be a busy day today so a day of relaxation after a late night last night, although the weather is quite nice today it is cold but sunny, anyway I have breakfast, send a text to Pauline and then I am off round to the Tesco Express to get my Morning Paper.

Lost again at words
with Friends
Once I get back home I settle down in the recliner to read the paper and get the crossword puzzles done when Pauline phones to say that they are all ok and up and she is out with Misty, so that is OK, I finish the crosswords and settle down to check out my emails and also Facebook to see who is around and also to catch up with the "Words with Friends" game, I seem to be playing against a group of very intelligent people, as I keep loosing, Perhaps Mum was right when she said I should not keep playing truant from school.

There is one major event to remember for our family in 2013. On the 2nd of May 1913 in the city of Portsmouth, Edith Annie Hubbard was born, Our Mother. So Mum would have been 100 years of age this year. The earliest Photograph I have of her is at 16 months old sat on a table with her mother Annie Maria Hubbard and he baby sister Lucy Maud Hubbard at 7 weeks old. here is that Photograph.

Sadly Mum passed away at the age of 92 on the 16th May 2005, she was interned at Fareham cemetery in a Double Grave with Dad who passed away in 1953 so they are both together.
Fareham Cemetery
Anyway we as a family have decided that we would arrange for a Headstone to be engraved for the Grave and also to maybe have a memorial service for mum and dad so that will be the priority for this year. So my Brother Pat and Eileen will sort it out as they both live over in Fareham.

A Short Walk around
the block
Anyway that aside Gordon phones about 12.30 to say that they are off over to see Pauline,s Sister Fran today and will be going about 12.00 they are both glad that the weather is a lot better today, anyway I carry on watching the TV until 1.30 when I decide to have a couple of boiled eggs wit 2 crispbread for lunch and also a banana. Once I have had those I decide to have a short stroll around the block to get some fresh air and exercise before going for a cat nap.

Once I have had a lie down for 30 minutes I make a coffee and then decide to get todays Journal written and Posted before getting dinner for 6.30. Tonight I am having Rainbow Trout and Mashed Potato. so nice and easy to do. while I am writing the journal I have a animated cartoon movie on the TV it is Walt Disney,s "The Princess and the Frog" made in 2009. an excellent film.
The Princess and the Frog 2009
Well it is now 5.30 and time to take the Lansoprazole before putting dinner on at 6.00 and then once I have had dinner and washed up it will be an evening of TV. before an early to bed night I think so until tomorrow I will say Adios Amigo,s
