The Days are going by far to quickly.

So here we are again and it is Monday already,  I wish someone could explain to me where the days are going, Because I have not got a clue.

It is almost a week since I last wrote my "Daily Journal", Not so much a daily journal now I am afraid though, although it will change back to being written and posted daily once I have got the new computer .
When Frank gets his new computer
Wednesday 11th September 2013

Not a great deal happened last week it was really much like any other week, on Wednesday Pauline and Gordon came down and while gordon spent a couple of hours cleaning the flat, Pauline took me down to Morrisons to get the shopping.
Morrisons Portsmouth City Centre.
Once we had got the shopping done we got a taxi back home, and after getting the shopping put away we had a coffee and a chat before Pauline and Gordon made their way back home, as usual gordon had done a good job on the flat cleaning as usual.
Got that one wrong Gordon
 Thursday 12th September 2013

Thursday was a normal day as far as normal goes for me spent most of the day as usual listening to the radio or watching TV in between cooking and washing up and then an early night on Thursday ready for my trip to the Queen Alexandra Hospital for my Pulmonary Function Test on Friday.

Friday 13th September 2013

Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth.

The appointment for my Pulmonary function test went pretty well. there was a young trainee along with a physiotherapist that did the tests and the results will be sent to Dr Gibb my consultant. then what he said at our meeting on the 5th, is that when he gets the results of the PFT we will then look at the treatment going forward,

so that was about it for Friday except once I had got home it was time for the ............................. Methotrexate. because Fridays is know by me as Freaky Friday.

Anyway I leave it until after Dinner before I take the Methotrexate so that about the time the Methotrexate kicks in I am off to bed that way I sleep through most of the affects, as it always makes me feel yucky for a day or so.

Saturday 14th September 2013

Saturday started as usual with me having a lie in and then going through the usual daily routine, and I was looking forward to Saturday evening as I am going with Gordon and Pauline up to my Nephew Arron,s House in Fareham to a house warming get together, Arron and Sarah have been married for two years and have just moved into their second house as they are expecting their first Baby in October, so we are all looking forward to that.

One baby on the way
Gervase and leanne unfortunately can not make it as they have a prior arrangement and I heard on Friday that my Brother Pat and his family cannot make it as Pat and also his daughter Melanie both have glandular fever but there was still a good turnout and we all had a good time.
A good evening at Arron and Sarah,s house warming
One thing I did do was although it was not my day for Prednisolone I did take 10 mg on Friday as well just to make sure that I was able to go . anyway it was a great evening and did not get back home until 11.00 pm so to bed at midnight and a lie in sunday morning.

Sunday 15th September 2013

Sunday was a day of resting and recovering from saturday evening. Gervase came and took me to Asda at fratton to get the shopping, it was nice to see him and he and Leanne had a good night last night.

Gervase has a busy week ahead with work as he is in London on Monday, Leeds on Tuesday, Edinburgh on Wednesday and back to leeds on Thursday and Friday so he has a lot of sorting out to do at home so once we are back home after shopping we have a chat and then he heads back home.

Monday 16th September 2013

And so to today another restful day of TV listening to the radio, Pauline and Gordon were down in Southsea today so came in for a coffee with Misty the Labrador, it was nice to see them all, we had a nice chat and a coffee and then headed back home. I have just caught up with the journal but will now get it posted on my blog as my vision is telling me it has had enough, just to say that there is now only 5 days to Myositis Awareness Day on Saturday the 21st

So until my next Journal I will say...............

The 69th Anniversary of the D-Day Landings 6th June 1944

On the 6th June 1944 the Normandy Landings commenced. We know it better as D-Day and on the 6th June 1944 Thousands of British and Canadian troops embarked from Stokes Bay at Gosport as part of the Normandy Landings I was only 7 months  old at the time but I can remember the story,s mum told as we were growing up of how she used to push me in the pram around the streets surrounding Fareham where all the canadian, British, and American troops were Gathered, weeks before the invasion took place, Mums Canadian cousins were with the "Canadian Black watch" and stayed with them at my Grandfathers house in Western road, Here are some of the Photographs she had.
My Grandfather Frederick Hubbard Centre with some of the canadians
Patrick Hubbard (Canadian Black watch) second from left back
Mum( Edith Smith Nee Hubbard) and Auntie Maud (Hubbard)

There are many Photographs of the family with the Canadians over here in 1943/44 and there is also a service being held today at the Canadian Memorial at Stokes Bay where the canadian troops embarked from on the way to "Juno" Beach
Canadian Memorial at Stokes bay
There were also events to mark the 69th Anniversary of the Normandy landing being held at the D-Day museum in Portsmouth.
D-Day Museum at Southsea,
We must also remember that there were also a lot of American troops billeted at fareham along with the Canadian and British troops and also to think of those that went and fought but did not return. Also the Royal marines were actively involved in the d-day landing, My Father in law "Robert Clark"  was on a Landing craft taking American troops across the channel to the D day Beaches at Utah
Map of The Normandie Landing Beaches
So that is what today is all about in the Portsmouth and the South coast of England today

My day has been pretty good so far, I had a good nights sleep last night and the weather today has been really good. the morning went as usual with texts to Pauline to arrange the time to go shopping and also had my breakfast and checked out emails and facebook before getting Washed, shaved and dressed ready for when Pauline came with the Taxi at 11.10.
Pauline arrives with the Taxi
As you can see Pauline has got the red bag with my clean laundry in it, she is an angel, anyway we get the laundry indoors, get the wheelchair, Pauline and me into the Taxi and off we go to the city centre.

Once at the city centre I need to go into the Nationwide Building society and then into Boots the chemist to get some Strawberry Complan, I do enjoy making the milk drinks with the complan as it is a good source of supplementing a lot of the vitamins that I may be low on, anyway once we have got that we then make our way to Morrisons, I am in the wheelchair now as I have done a bit of walking but the leg muscles are playing up today as iyt is a non Prednisolone day today, I am so much better on the alternate days that I take the Prednisolone, anyway on the way to morrisons, I need to go into Sainsburys to get some Gluten Free Bread and Biscuits, they have a far greater range than Morrisons.
Sainsburys, Commercial Road, Portsmouth
well It does not take long in there to get the Gluten Free Items and then we carry on to Morrisons in the Victory retail park
You ain't forgot where you left me again Pauline
Here I am, over here.
well we get a trolley and then we get the shopping done and have a coffee and a Sandwich before getting a taxi back Home.
You can't take the trolley home Pauline.
While we were in Morrisons, gordon rang to say he was just leaving Salisbury and that he would pick Pauline up at my house anyway once the taxi gets to morrisons we get everything in and off we go home, as we get home we have just got out the Taxi when Gordon arrives so that was good timing, anyway once indoors we get the shopping put away and have a coffee and a chat before Pauline sorts out some of my laundry to take home and do for me and then Her and Gordon make there way home.

I get a text from Pauline to say that she has a pre-op assessment on the 17th June and her Thyroid op on the 2nd july so that is good news, she will be pleased to get it all over and done with.
Well that is about it today apart from to say that the other big event going on in Portsmouth today is that they are filming the BBC Antiques road show in Portsmouth at the Royal Marine Museum so that is drawing a lot of interest, not sure when it will be screened but will let you know when I know.
Royal Marines Museum, Southsea
so that is it for today, so until tomorrow I will say Bye Bye.

Monday, April 22, 2013

and it is another nice sunny Monday.

This could be me next week.

Yes Folks it is nice weather again today, if this carries on I will have to go and get a pair of Secateurs so that I can attempt to start trimming the shrubs in the back yard. It really is a nice spring day today and a temperature of about 16 degrees C but in the back yard it has reached 21 Degrees C in the Sun, this was at about 1.00 pm.
Its to early to get up.

Well it was not a bad nights sleep last night, woke at 3.30 ish for the bathroom and then went back to sleep until about 7.00 when I woke and after using the bathroom, I made a coffee and then went back to bed to listen to the radio and doze a bit, at 8.30 I sent the morning text to Pauline and then at about 9.00 I got up to get some breakfast and a coffee and into the Lounge.
Todays Breakfast

I have decided to have a nice bowl of Gluten Free Porridge this morning and so I ge that made and then take that and a coffee into the lounge and put the TV on to watch a episode of "Heir Hunters" which is a documentary of company,s who trace missing heirs, a lot of good Family history research tips in this program, anyway I finish my porridge, just as Pauline Phones, she and gordon are late getting up this morning after a good weekend with friends in Weymouth.

Getting the morning Paper
Pauline is OK and she is pleased that the weather is getting better, anyway we have a chat and she enjoyed the weekend away with Gordon in Weymouth, and also she had a good time with Agnes who is the lady they stayed with in Weymouth, and in case Agnes reads this journal I would like to say " Thank you for the Postcard"  Gordon gave it to me this morning and I thought it was so funny. anyway Pauline said Gordon would be round sometime after 10.30 for the Monday 2 hours cleaning, so that gives me time to get my shoe,s on and get round to get my paper.

Once I have the paper and also some milk I make my way back home and then settle down with some youtube videos of Brenda Lee on the Smart TV, and I watch these until Gordon arrives at about 11.00 when I go and get a couple of coffees made. My favourite Video was a 1980,s concert "Legends in Concert" Brenda lee was great in the 1960,s and as good in the 1980,s and still going strong, she is only a year younger than me. one of the Greats.
Brenda lee in the "Legends in Concert" show 1980,s
Your doing a good job Gordon
Once Me and Gordon have had our coffee,s and a chat gordon starts the cleaning, and I settle down to read the paper. It is a good morning and we have a good old chat and ponce gordon has the main cleaning done we have another coffee before Gordon vacuum's the bedroom and lounge and then washes the kitchen and Bathroom Floor. once Gordon has finished he gets his cleaning gear into his car and then heads back home to Pauline.

Mother (Edith Annie Smith Nee Hubbard)
Once Gordon has left at about 1.00 I settle down in the recliner to read the Morning paper and also to get the crosswords done before I make a cup of tea and get a nice chicken and bacon Sandwich for lunch at 2.00. Once I have had lunch I decide to start getting todays journal written, as I will not be doing much more today. while I am writing the Journal I have a phone call from my Cousin Mike in Fareham, I had a Phone call from Mikes Sister Maureen From Canada yesterday evening so that is a coincidence anyway me and Mike have a nice chat about the get together in Fareham this weekend to celebrate what would have been my Mums 100th Birthday on the 2nd May. It is the only time the family can all get together. Mum Passed away in 2005 at the age of 92. it does not seem like it has been 8 years.

NOTE

Due to the family events on Saturday there will be no Daily Journal on Saturday the 28th March.

well that is about it for today folks, It is nearly 3.30 so will get this journal posted before settling down with a coffee and some episodes of "keeping up appearances" so until tomorrow I will say Goodbye.

Saturday, April 20, 2013

And Another milestone reached with the Daily Journal.

Hello again folks and here we are with another Saturday upon us and wonders of wonders it is really nice weather today, clear blue skies and Sunshine so long may it last.
A really nice day today
Let me stay in bed.
The Photograph above is the view this morning from my back yard, it is so nice to see clear blue skies and hopefully that will last all day long. Now back to the present. I had a restless night last night, woke a couple of times for the bathroom, must stop drinking so much coffee in the evening while playing about on facebook, anyway eventually had some interrupted sleep from about 4.30 to 8.30 so that was probably a total of 6 hours last night which is about the norm for me. anyway made a coffee and stayed in bed until about 9.30 listening to the radio before getting up and getting dressed.

Getting washed and groomed
Once I was up I get a cup of tea and some Porridge for breakfast before getting out the laptop and checking my e-mails, and also seeing who is on facebook. Once I have finished that I go out to the kitchen to get the washing up done and then go and have a coffee outside in the sunshine, it is still quite chilly so do need a coat on, after that I go and get a wash and groomed and then ready to go and get the morning paper.

Oh well time to rest the legs now
As it is a nice day I decide that I would take a slightly longer route to get the paper today, which was probably not the best idea on a saturday after the fridays methotrexate, anyway I get to the paper shop, get the paper and go back home, although the legs are very achey today I did enjoy the walk in the Sun, On afterthoughts I should have taken the wheelchair and could have spent an hour in Milton Park reading the paper, Oh well may think about that tomorrow if the weather stays nice.

One of my Favourites
Once back indoors I settle down with the paper and at about 11.30 Pauline rings from Weymouth to say that that Her and Gordon are On and that the weather is nice down there, and that they had a good evening with Agnes and a couple of other friends, once I had finished talking to pauline I went back to the Paper and then spent an hour doing the Weekend Puzzles and also the crossword, I have left one crossword to do later on this evening. at 12.30 I have a Banana and also put on you tube on the "Smart TV" to watch/Listen to some of the songs and stage performances by "Johnny Tillotson" from the 1950,s and 1960,s.

Samsung Smart TV
I really am thankful that I decided to pay the extra few Pounds to get the smart TV as it really was worth it, You would think that with all the satellite TV channels these day you would be able to find something on the TV worth watching but after searching through this morning I can honestly say that there was nothing that I found that would be worth while watching for me so thank Goodness for Smart TV and DAB Radio.

Entrance to Fratton Park in
Frogmore Road
Well as it is such a nice afternoon I decide at 3.00 to take a coffee outside to enjoy the fresh air and sunshine, and to see the crowds of people going of to watch the football at Fratton Park. It is the last home Game of the season and also Portsmouth Football Club has been taken over by the Portsmouth Football Trust and is now out of Administration and is the biggest fan owned football club in England. although we will be playing in Division two next season at least the club is still in existence so "Play Up Pompey" I have been supporting Portsmouth football club since being taken to my first Match at Fratton Park by my Father in 1949. and was going to matches at fratton park and many other football grounds across the country until about 1998-99, when the money men became involved and it became to expensive to go.

It certainly looks like there is going to be a large crowd at the stadium today and hopefully not to much trouble with rowdy drunks although as I am sat here writing this journal with the window open I can here a lot of Police/ambulance Sirens going off and the Police spotter plane circling about overhead. any way Good Luck Pompey.

Well it is now just gone 4.00 pm so time to get this journal finished and posted, Well it has been a good day today even with a lot of aches and pains in my leg and hip, and so I have enjoyed the sunshine, it is surprising how a decent sunny day can really uplift peoples spirits (Make mine a Brandy) anyway as I was saying a really good day and I have enjoyed it, I made a egg sandwich about 3,30 and will have dinner  about  7.00 pm so that is all good, One other nice surprise was to see that today the Daily Journal reached just over 50, 000 visitors, so That pleased me and also the daily visits are increasing on a monthly basis so Thank You to everyone who takes the trouble to read my Daily Journal.

Well so it is time to call it a day now I think, it is 4.20 and there is now something on TV that I am watching it started at 4.00 and it is a episode of a TV series " Judge John Deed" starring "Martin Shaw"

Judge John Deed. 2001 - 2007 BBC. (29 episodes over 6 series)
So I am going to get this Journal Posted and settle down to watch the rest of the program so until tomorrow I will say Tatty Bye.
