and the question of the day is....................

Is the heat and sunshine affecting Gordon, s Hearing  with reference to the following film strip.......
Yes people it is Wednesday today and the good thing about Wednesday (apart from the fact that I woke up alive this morning) is that not only is the Sun shining and the birds are singing ("Noisy blighters") but also it is a Medication free day today " Whoo Hoo" the downside is that tomorrow is not. Booooooooooo.
Well here we are then being stupid again but what the heck, I put it down to too mush Sunshine.
Had a good evening yesterday spending some time with Gervase and Leanne and eventually got to bed about 10.35 as I was worn out after walking around the shops yesterday for a couple of hours with Pauline and the Rollator, anyway had a really good nights sleep, and slept all the way through from 11.00 until 7.30 this morning, and then made a coffee and lazed in bed until 8.30 when I got up.
Is it Morning already ?
Once I was up I make a coffee and then into the lounge to get the morning text off to Pauline and then get myself some porridge for breakfast. It is another very warm morning although there is more of a breeze this morning but it is still 22C in here so get the windows open and then have breakfast before checking out the emails and facebook on the laptop.

At 10 00 O'clock I phone Pauline and her and Gordon are out on the common with Misty walking around a charity car boot sale. anyway they are both Ok so that is all right, so once I have spoken to Pauline I get Washed, Shaved, and dressed and then decide that I will take the rollator and go and get the morning paper and then have a walk into Milton Park and enjoy the nice weather, so I take a bottle of water and a banana with me and spend a nice hour or so walking in the park and having a sit down and reading the paper and doing the crossword and then back home and indoors by 11.30. A very enjoyable morning.

The 3 photographs above are taken from the North Entrance to the park

Milton Park Barn
The Photo above is the Original thatched barn that still stands here today, Milton park is part of a Farm , that was owned  by the Goldsmith Family, the land including the thatched barn was transfered to Portsmouth City by the Goldsmith family in 1912 and is now a public park and recreational area. The old Photo below is the Barn taken from the other side c 1845

Now aren't you lucky people to get a look at my life and a history lesson on where I live, I really do spoil you all. But I do enjoy writing my blog and also adding bits of Local or social history into it
Well here we are then at the end of what has been a very good but restful day, A nice walk in the park and now I am watching a touch of frost on the TV. I will have dinner tonight at 6.00 and tonight it will be beef casserole with dumplings ( I am cheating and it is a ready meal from Tesco) Naughty me but it is to warm to be out in the kitchen cooking, so the microwave can earn its keep tonight.

so I will now get todays educational Journal finished and posted and settle down with a nice coffee so until tomorrow I will say..................................

"Wow"is today Hot or What ?

So here we are on another sweltering day here in Sunny Southsea.
Vintage Poster for Portsmouth and Southsea
The weather is certainly treating us with some welcome Sunshine this year after the last few years of cold and wet summers, so people should make the most of it, although I find that the heat does make it heavier to breathe especially with the air pollution from traffic fumes that the hot weather brings, I still enjoy the sunshine and the smell of People BBQ,s in the evening. and as long as I cover up my arms and wear a hat when I go out, then that is OK with me.
Wearing a hat when out walking in the sun
had a decent night last night and was up and sending the text to Pauline by 8.30 this morning, and already the sky is a clear blue and the sun is shining so first thing I do is to open the windows as the temperature in my lounge is 22C which is about 74F
Portsmouth at 8.30 this Morning.
decide to just have a Banana and Yoghurt for breakfast this morning and then check out my emails and facebook. Pauline phones at about 9.10 to say that Gordon is out with Misty and that Her and gordon will be round at about 11.00 so that Pauline and I can go down to the city centre to get some shopping and gordon will get the Flat cleaning done, They will also bring my clean laundry round for me as well.
Gordon in his shorts out "Walking the Dog"
Well, once I have finished speaking with Pauline I settle down to watch "Heir Hunters" a Genealogy program on BBC1 until 10.00 when I go and get washed, shaved and dressed ready for when Pauline and gordon Get here. I am all ready and sorted by 10.35 so make a coffee and listen to the local radio, at 10.45 I have a text from Pauline to say they are on the way to men and they arrive about 11.00. we decide that I will take the "Rollator" today and we we will get a bus down to the city centre, which will make a change as I have not really been on a bus for over a year, and then when we have finished the shopping we will phone Gordon and he will come and collect us, so that is what we do.
Here I am on the bus with Pauline on the way to the city centre.
Once we get down to the centre we go and have a wander around and look in the shops in the precinct before heading up the arundel street precinct to wilkinson,s to get some pet bits and pieces for Misty and Charley, Pauline and Gordon,s Dog and Cat. On the way there Pauline takes a Photo of me with the Rollator outside the "Gym" wishful thinking really.
One day maybe.
anyway once we have got what we want in Wilkinson,s we make our way over to the Nationwide Building Society, and then we go yo the Expresso Bar for a coffee and a Sausage roll, before heading back into boots where I need to get some Tyrozets Lozenges for when I have a sore Throat. These are very good and I remember mum getting these for us when we were kids.
These are really good and effective
After we cone out of boots we go into Tesco to get some shopping, we are not getting much today as I have the Rollator, and we will do a main shop on Thursday down at Morrisons, so we just get what we need and then pauline Phones Gordon to say we have finished shopping and we will walk down to the railway station at the end of the precinct and he will come and collect us from there.
Portsmouth and Southsea Railway Station
Gordon soon arrives and we head home, once indoors I make the coffee and we have a chat and at 3.00 Gordon and Pauline make a move back home, They have taken my dirty washing with them and also they are going to drop my repeat prescription into the doctors so that we can collect it on Thursday.
It's not that bad Pauline "IS IT" ?

So that was a good day, and I have done about 2 hours walking with the rollator and I feel really happy about that, hopefully the legs will not feel to painful tomorrow but hey "Onwards and Upwards"

Fight the Fight
well that is about it for today, it has been a really positive day today so I am now going to get a coffee and go out in the garden for an hour before I have dinner at 6.00, so until tomorrow I will say .................

And the summer heat wave continues.

Is it really Monday already, my goodness time really does go by so fast these days, mind you I expect the people caught up in the massive traffic jams leaving the beaches on the South Coast Yesterday are glad that life is back to normality.

10 Mile traffic jams coming out of Bournemouth yesterday evening.
You get some rare Sunshine and everyone goes Potty over here, common sense and reasoning gets discarded for some reason, and the A&E Departments in the hospitals get over run with people suffering from upset stomachs from eating undercooked BBQ food, extreme sunburn and dehydration , and problems with excess alcohol consumption.

DONT PANIC
KEEP COOL

And so after a weekend of Sunshine and Wimbledon we are now at Monday and I had a really good nights sleep last night so woke up full of the joys of summer this morning at 6.30 so made a coffee and took back to bed where I lay listening to the local radio until 8.00 when I got up and made my way with another coffee into the lounge to watch the breakfast news on TV and to send Pauline the Obligatory morning text.
Oh Well, Time to rise and Shine
Walking The Dog
once I have sent the text to Pauline I get some porridge for breakfast and then Pauline phones to say that Her and Gordon are out on the common with Misty, it is already very warm although there is a breeze coming in of the Solent so that makes it more bearable, it is now about 9.00 and she said Gordon will be round at about 10.00 to 10.30 so that is Ok. Once I have spoken to Pauline I get on the laptop and check out facebook and also my emails.

Anyway Gordon arrives about 10.15 and I make the coffee and we have a chat, Gordon has brought my clean laundry back with him, anyway he decides he will do the flat cleaning tomorrow, when I am out down town with Pauline shopping, so he is going to take me up to cosham, which is at the North of Portsea Island so I can hand in the completed paperwork to extend the rental on the flat for the next 12 months, so that is what we do.

Brewers Letting Agency where I needed to go.
Well it is several years since I have been up to Cosham, many years ago in the late 1980,s when I had my driving school I had a shopfront and office at Cosham, down near the Railway station, Cosham has certainly changed, anyway once I had been into brewers  , Gordon and I go over to "Poppins" cafe and Restaurant and had a coffee each and gordon also had a bacon and egg sandwich. after that we headed back home.
Poppins in Cosham High Street
Once we get home we have a coffee and then gordon heads home so I get the rollator and go round to the Co-op in Winter road to get the daily Paper and also a couple of banana,s and then I head back home and make a cheese sandwich for lunch which I have with a bottle of Flavoured spring water, as it is very warm , to warm to sit outside at the moment so will go out into the garden later on this evening. Once I have had lunch I go for a Cat Nap for an hour until 3.00 when I go and prepare the vegetable for tonight,s dinner and then get this journal written.
Having A "Cat Nap"
Well it is now 5.20 and the sun is still shining brightly so I am going to get this journal Posted and then have a nice cold drink of spring water and sit out in the back garden with the ipad for an hour before dinner as the sun has moved around and there is some nice shade at the back so until tomorrow I will say.................

With the Sunshine comes the Traffic Jams.

welcome to another day here on the south coast, the temperature is forecast to reach 86 Fahrenheit  here in the south today, and by the volume of traffic on the roads everyone is out to spend the day at the seaside. by 10.00 am this morning traffic reports were coming in of  heavy traffic on all routes leading to the south coast with many car parks in the most popular seaside towns full up. The trouble with the sunshine here on Portsea Island is that with the traffic congestion so air quality depreciates which does nothing for my breathing. so I try to stay in as much as possible with the fan on.
Summer Pollution
The Morning Paper
Anyway it is Sunday, so a day of just relaxing, anyway I text Pauline as usual and then get some breakfast, once I have had breakfast I check out facebook and also my emails before Pauline phones to say that all is OK with them today, they slept pretty well so that is good anyway after speaking with Pauline I have a wash and shave and decide that as it is now 10.20 that I would go for a walk with the Rollator for 30 minutes to get the morning paper and also once I have the paper I think that I will take a walk over to B&Q at the Pompey retail centre to see some of my old workmates, so that is what I do, so here are some photos of my trip with the "Roland" the rollator. over to B&Q.

Cat nap with a Teddy
Well that was an enjoyable hour, I enjoyed the walk but found that the heat was very heavy on the breathing, however I sat down a couple of times on the way around so that was OK, trouble was there was only one Person working at B&Q today that I knew from when I worked at B&Q.
Once back home I made a coffee and then went out into the back garden for an hour to read the paper and also had a Banana, before going for a cat nap at 12.30 for an hour.

Gervase phones at 2.00 to say he will be round at 2.30 and that we can go shopping , we decide that as it is so hot and the roads are full of traffic we will just go and do the shopping at Asda in Fratton, so that is what we do. Once we have the shopping done we head back home and have an ice cream and then watch the Tennis at Wimbledon, It is the mens final and at 5.15 Murray is two championship points away from winning the 2013 mens final. but he is making hard work of it

Nearly but not quite

And the winner is Andy Murray
well that is about it for today Murray has won at Wimbledon and Gervase has just left and I need to get the dinner on for tonight so I will get this journal finished and posted so until tomorrow I will say.....................
