Its another wet Tuesday

And a very good morning to you all well you will be pleased to hear that I am giving you a rest from the Olympics today as I am out down to the city centre with Pauline today for our Tuesday shopping, Hopefully the rain will stay away while we are out as it looks like Summer has been and gone.
Portsmouth at 7.35 am this morning.
It is looking decidedly grey and miserable this morning as you can see from the Photo above taken from the live webcam at Portsmouth Harbour this morning at 7.30.
Breakfast TV
I stayed up late last night watching a episode of NCIS on the TV last night and did not go to bed until 11.50, but soon got to sleep and slept through until 6.30 this morning so I was pleased with that as it was a good 6 hours of un-interrupted sleep anyway stayed in bed "Dozing" until 7.30 when I decided I really should get up and make a coffee and take into the lounge to catch up on the Breakfast news and be ready for when Jo my carer arrives.

Cycling
I am sitting here watching the TV and enjoying my coffee when jo my carer arrives, she is not a happy bunny today as it is raining and she has got wet riding her cycle, she has a busy day ahead of her today so hopefully the rain will stop, I hope it does as I will be going out later with Pauline to do some shopping, anyhow she soon has me washed and groomed and is then on her way,

Walkies.
once jo has gone I get some breakfast and then I text Pauline to let her know all is done and dusted here. Pauline phones back about 9.15 to say she is out on the common with Misty for her morning walk and that she is booking a Taxi for 11.00 am to come and collect me and then we will be going down to Commercial road as I have an appointment with the Building Society at 11.30 and then it will be into Tesco to get a bit of Shopping.

Shaving
Well the time is now 9.30 so I get the laptop up and running and check out the emails and go on facebook for an hour and then it is time to get a shave and get ready for when Pauline arrives at just gone 11.00. Pauline arrives at 11.10 with the taxi and we get the wheelchair loaded into the cab and then off we go down to Commercial road. We get the Taxi to drop us off at the back of Boots the Chemist as it is the nearest dropping of point to the Building society where I have an appointment at 11.30.

Building society
Coffee time.
My appointment takes about 30 minutes and we are out at 12.00 O'Clock. so we decide it is time for a coffee, our normal place seems to be rather full so we go to a place further down the precinct which is a cake shop but also sells sandwiches, snacks and coffee, s so that is Ok and we each have a coffee I also have a hot Chicken pasty and Pauline has a Sausage roll and we sit outside and have them and very tasty it is too, that went down a treat and then it is off to Tesco to get the shopping.

We get the shopping done and then we get the taxi back home. Once we are back home I get the coffee made and the shopping put away and then Pauline goes to do a bit of sorting out upstairs for me and I start to get this journal written, well it has been a busy day today what with Shopping, Building society, and trying to get the rooms in the house sorted ready for the move it is quite tiring but we are getting there slowly. anyway I need to have a rest now as I have over done it a bit today so I will say tatty bye until tomorrow and leave you with todays "Day in History" from 1970.

Its A Humid Monday.

Time for coffee
And a good morning to you all on this fine Monday morning. Not a bad nights sleep last night although I did stay up late to watch a movie but was in bed by 11.30. Woke once during the night about 3.00 am, apart from that slept through until 6.30 this morning, at least I did not oversleep and scare the carer again. anyway I laze in bed until 7.30 then into the kitchen to get the coffee ready and then into the lounge to watch the morning news ( If I can find any that is not Olympic related)

Well done Gordon
Anyway most of the news revolves around the Olympics anyway at 8.40 "Carmella" my monday carer arrives on her "Electric Cycle" and soon has me washed and groomed ready for the day ahead and then once she is on her way I get some Breakfast of Yoghurt, Wheatabix and a Banana, and then I text Pauline to let her know that all is OK here. Pauline phones back to say that she has only just got up (9.45 am) Gordon was up early and took Misty out for her walk.

I have not been up to much this morning, I went on Facebook and played " Words with Friends" and "Hidden Chronicles" and then played around with a bit of Graphic design for Myositis Awareness Ideas here is one idea I came up with. it would also work well for "Autoimmune Awareness" as well.

Graphic design Example

Asda Snack Pizza
however the morning passes quite quickly and by the time I have finished on the computer and read the paper and completed the Crossword and the Sudoku it is approaching 1.00 pm and time for lunch. I decide that I will try a "Mini Pizza" today, it has been a long time since I had Pizza so thought I would try and see if I could manage one now that my Swallowing is improving. I will make sure that I am sat upright and with a glass of water to hand and take it easy. I also added extra Grated cheese as i find that these pizza are short on cheese topping although that is only to be expected as they only cost £0.50p each, and are just right for a lunch time snack.

Well that went down well and I really did enjoy that, I had forgotten how nice Pizza tasted, once I had finished I go for a short cat nap for an hour before it will be time to get this Journal completed and to watch the Olympic Diving which starts at 3.00 pm. and that is the time now. so I will be watching that as I get this Journal written and Posted to my blog. The diving goes on until 4.25 pm and it is the mens Synchronized 10 m Platform Final today and we have Tom Daley and Pete Waterman in the Final and Going for a Medal. That was an excellent first dive and they go into equal first place with China.
Round 1 Olympic diving.
Well that is about it for today I am now going to carry on watching the diving for the next hour so I will say Tatty bye until tomorrow and leave you with todays "Day in History" from 1898.

Who overslept today then ?

I Did..................... Had a bit of a oversleep this morning and scared the living daylights out of my carer.

A Good Nights Sleep.
It certainly is a magical Sunday. For some unknown reason I slept through until 9.00 am this morning when I was awakened by the phone ringing, it was the Care agency office on the phone to ask if I was ok as the carer was at the front door but could not contact me and was worried if I was OK. I was fast asleep and oblivious to the world, it is the latest I have slept for a long time as I am usually awake at 5.30 am and  up at between 7.00 - 7.30 every morning.

Wakey Wakey
I have no Idea why I slept that long. probably needed it as I feel so much better today, I did stay up late last night watching a "Steven Seagal" Movie " Fire Down Below" but I was in bed by 11.30 and as normal woke at 5.30 for the bathroom and then fell asleep again, perhaps the time has come to start setting my alarm clock for 8.00 am just to be on the safe side, as It is not fair  on the carers to have to start getting the office to ring me as it will make them late for their next clients. anyway that over and done with I get washed and groomed and once the carer has gone I get some breakfast and text Pauline to let her know all is OK.

Swimming tonight
so the major decision of the day now is what to watch on TV. I will be watching the women,s Cycling road race later on about noon and also it is nice to see that in the women,s 400 m freestyle heats Rebecca Adlington got through to the finals which are on tonight. The swimming starts at 7.30 so will have to watch that so until the Cycling starts at 12.00 Noon I will watch a couple of repeat episodes of "Rosemary and Thyme"
Rosemary and Thyme TV Series 2003 - 2007
It is now 11.50 so I make a nice coffee and then change over to watch the Cycling on the BBC Multi screen channel. Gervase phones to say he will be round about 1.30 so we can go to Asda to get the shopping so that is OK as I can watch the first hour or so and then catch the last hour after shopping so that works out about right. The weather is quite sunny here today although a lot of white cloud and a bit of a breeze but in surrey and london where the cycling is taking place they have had some heavy rain storms, and some of the roads have been flooded in places.
A Wet and Flooded road.
However it is a steady pace and Gervase arrives at 1.40 so we get into the car and off we go to Asda to get the shopping for Today and Monday and then I will be back down the city centre on Tuesday shopping with Pauline.
well we get the shopping and then head back home along the sea front, it is a very nice drive today as it is nice with the car windows open and the breeze flowing in. anyway once we are back home we get the shopping put away and then Gervase gets away as he is going up to Ikea in Southampton now to get a couple of items and I get myself a "Meat and Potato" pie for lunch and also a Banana and get back to watch the end of the Cycle race.
Across the finishing line.

Well that was a good finish and the UK get the silver Medal. well that was a great race and well done Lizzie Armitstead on finishing in second place. so the result of the Women,s Cycling road race was:

  1. Gold Medal:   Marianne Vos : Netherlands
  2. Silver Medal:  Lizzie Armitstead : Great Britain
  3. Bronze Medal : Olga Zabelinskaya: Russian Federation.

So after two Days Great Britain gets its first medal of the London 2012 Olympics.  so at the moment we are number 15 in the medal table. China is first with 9 medals, USA second with 7 Medals and Italy third with 6 Medals, but still a long way to go yet and I am looking forward to watching the swimming tonight.

So there we go then, where has the time gone today it is nearly 5.30 and I have not done half the things today that I planned to do, anyway I am now watching "Police Academy 5" on the TV so will say tatty bye for today and leave you with todays " Day in History" from 29th July 1948.

Let the Games Begin.

Well that was an awesome opening Ceremony for the Olympics last night, stayed up until about 11.45 watching it in the lounge and then watched the remainder in bed. slept through until about 7.00 this morning so that was good although It did take me a while to get off to sleep once the Opening Ceremony finished anyway all is good this Morning.

London 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony
Determination from Team GB
Anyway out of bed at 7.45 and off to make the coffee and to get the laptop up and running to check on Facebook and also my emails, and then I will be ready for when jo my carer arrives, That way I can get everything sorted and then get breakfast ready for when the Olympic Cycling Road race starts at 9.50. Anyway Jo does not arrive until 9.10 but she does not take long to get me washed and groomed and is then on her way, I get some breakfast of Yoghurt and a banana, and then send the morning text to Pauline. Next thing is to get dressed and then I am all ready for the Cycling to start.

So we have a nice relaxing Morning and afternoon ahead of me today. I am watching the Road Race on the BBC red Button Multi-screen which allows you to watch whichever event you want with continuous cover, so the cycling starts at 9.50 and ends at 15 55. so this is enjoyable, and it has been a good relaxing morning. At 1.30 I get some smoked haddock in butter with a poached egg and a couple of crisp bread for lunch and I enjoyed that so now a nice cup of tea and we are well away for the last 90 minutes or so of the road race as it is now 14.36.

Well the race is going well and the British are holding their own, they are on the last 53 km which is the run in to london and the sprint down the mall, so that will be exciting.
About an hour to go from here.
So that is the state of play at the moment. so back to watching the road race and then I will be back to complete the Journal for today before getting dinner and settling down to watch a movie for the evening. I am going to watch a 1947 film tonight " The Ghost and Mrs Muir" with Rex Harrison and George Sanders. so will enjoy that I hope.

The Ghost and Mrs Muir 1947
The time is now 16.05 and the road race is over, it was good watching it and I enjoyed it but after the Tour de France, the Expectations for the UK winning our first gold medal of 2012 did not happen, in fact we were never in it, they got the tactics all wrong the winners were as follows.

So that is Olympic watching over for me until tomorrow, so I will now go and get a nice coffee and think about what to have for dinner tonight, as the movie starts at 16.45. so I will leave you with todays "Day in History" from 1866 and  a cheery goodbye until tomorrow.

Where is the Sun.

And here we are on Friday the 27th of July 2012. This is the day when we are subject to 99% of the national news being dedicated to the start of the London Olympics, and the opening ceremony tonight. Do not get me wrong, I am looking forward to the opening ceremony tonight and watching the Olympics as and when I want to, and I do enjoy the sport on the TV, it is just that I think there are a lot of other things going on in the world that are more important than the Olympics. So keeping in tune with the rest of the country here is my contribution to the Olympics.

Hot and humid weather
Now I had a restless night last night, I do not know why but it was very hot and Humid last night so that has probably got something to do with it. I only got about 5 hours sleep last night but when I woke at 5.00 am this morning the weather had cooled down a bit and it was raining. so hopefully today will be a bit less humid which will make it easier on the breathing.

Ding Dong
Anyway to cut a long story short I got up at 5.30 to make a coffee and then went into the lounge to watch the Morning Breakfast news on BBC 1. It is as I said all about the olympics but it is interesting, and they are getting all excited in the studio about the national bell ringing event that is happening around the country at 08.12. this morning, everyone is being urged to ring a bell for 3 minutes. I wondered why it was at that time and the explanation was that 8.12 is 12 hours until the start of the Olympic Opening ceremony at 20.12 Hours tonight. but why this morning I have no Idea, I would have thought it would have been more Relevant to do it this evening at the proper time of 20.12. ???.

Anyway several coffee,s later Jo my carer turns up at 8.30 and soon has me washed and groomed ready for the day ahead and then is off to her next client. She is in a bit of a rush today as she has got a busy day ahead of herself. Once Jo has gone I get some Wheatabix for breakfast and then text Pauline to let her know all is OK here and then decide to have a lie down for and hour or so to catch up on some sleep and also I have taken the Methotrexate so that will start to kick in soon.

So I have had a lie down for an hour but did not sleep so am back in the lounge again so it is laptop on and onto Facebook to see who is around. I had a surprise when I had a look at my wall postings, My Sister Eileen had found an old Photograph of me holding my Son Gervase and also my Nephew Arron ( Eileen,s Son) this was taken in 1981 up in Hammond road at Mums house. I was a young 38 year old then How time flies by, Gervase was born in the may of 1981 and he is now 31. so for your delight her I am in 1981. I think this photograph was taken on a "Polaroid Camera."
Like the long hair
Todays Lunch.
The morning has passed by fairly quickly and it is now 1.00 pm and time for lunch. It is one of those days when you feel hungry but cant make up your mind what you want for lunch. Anyway I narrow it down to either a nice piece of Smoked Haddock or a Quiche. I decide to have the quiche and a yoghurt rather than the Haddock as I will be having Plaice for dinner tonight and I can have the Haddock Tomorrow for lunch, anyway I have lunch and then settle down to watch a couple of episodes of "Just Good Friends" and also to get this Journal written and Posted for today so that I can get Dinner early and then settle down to an evening of the "Olympics"

Well that is Today almost over with, The weather has got a bit brighter and the sun is trying to break through, The Methotrexate has kicked in so feeling a bit "Yucky" but not to bad anyway I am going to end todays Journal at this point and say Adios Until Tomorrow, Hopefully I will get a better nights sleep tonight as I will be up late watching the Olympic opening Ceremony which starts at 9.00 pm BST.
Watching the olympics

so here is todays "Day in History" from 1940. so Until tomorrow Adios Amigo

Thursday Shopping.

And here we are again on another bright, Sunny morning. It was a good six hours sleep last night, and nice to see the Sun streaming through the window this morning, it is days like this that you do not mind getting out of bed.
Portsmouth at 7.00 am this Morning.
Morning Coffee
so there we are then, The Photograph above is from the live webcam at Portsmouth harbour taken at 7.00 am this morning, anyway I laze in bed until 7.30 and then get up and into the kitchen to get the coffee, and then into the lounge to watch the Breakfast news on BBC 1. the news these days is all about the Olympics and the mess that the organisers are making of it. The boob of the day was that the the North Korean Women,s football team walked of the pitch at their Olympic match after their images were shown on the big screen beside the south Korean Flag
Olympic Flag Mistake.
Breakfast Biscuit.
Anyway I settle down with my coffee and wait for Jo my carer to arrive, it is going to be another busy day today as I will be going down to the city centre with Pauline to get a few bits and pieces and then to morrisons to get the food shopping done. Jo arrives at 8.30 and it does not take her long to get me washed and groomed and then she is on her way to the next client. once Jo has gone I get some Belvita biscuits and a banana for breakfast and then send Pauline her morning text.

Pauline phones me back about 9.30 to say she will be booking a Taxi for 10.45 to come and collect me and then we will be going down to the city centre, so I have 45 minutes on the laptop to check emails and also Facebook and then I go and get a shave and get dressed ready for when Pauline arrives. Pauline arrives at 10.55 and we get the wheelchair into the Taxi and then we are off down to the city centre. The taxi drops us off at the precinct entrance in Slindon street and we make our way into the precinct.
Slindon Street entrance to the Precinct  (Stock Photo)
Coffee Break,
The first stop is the bank and then up to boots the Chemist to get a few bits and Pieces, I also need to go into the nationwide Building society and we then decide to have a cup of coffee at the coffee bar in the precinct before going on over to Morrisons to get the main shopping done.

Once we have had a nice cup of coffee we make our way through the precinct and over to Morrisons to get the bulk of the shopping done. It is very hot today so I do try and walk and push the wheelchair in short bursts to give Pauline a break from having to push me all the way. Anyway we get to Morrisons and get inside to start the shopping. It is cooler in here than it is outside so that is OK although it is quite busy here today.
Morrisons in Portsmouth (Stock Photo)
Citywide Taxi
Anyway we get around and get the shopping done and then go and Pay for the items and now it is time to get a bite to eat in their Cafeteria,After Tuesday and Wednesday I decide I need to take it easy with food so we just have a sausage roll and a coffee each, it is vert enjoyable and I also decide "NOT" to have any cake today as I am still suffering from the cakes, ice cream and rich food from the last two days. When we have finished we go outside and find a place in the shade where we can wait and I phone for the taxi to take us home.

Once we get home there are a couple of Phone calls to deal with and also to get the shopping put away, we then we sit and have a chat and a coffee before getting the taxi to take Pauline home.

So that is about it another busy day, there is a lot going on at the moment with the House sale and getting ready to move so it will be nice now to have two or three days rest especially as it is Methotrexate day tomorrow, anyway it is now to sit down with a coffee, put my feet up and "Chill out" so I will say Tatty bye until tomorrow and leave you with todays "Day in History" from 1882.
