Go Frankie Go
Another day of feeling really down and I think the weather has a lot to do with it. Being stuck indoors all day long with the heating on is doing me no good at all, so roll on tomorrow when I can get out for my blood test and a bit of shopping with Pauline.

Well got up this morning and it was really cold out there today with a very cold wind blowing around, anyway text Pauline as usual and got myself some nice hot porridge for breakfast and then pauline phones to say that Gordon has gone to do one of his Friday jobs today as he is feeling a bit better, but still a bit sniffly, anyway Pauline is off to take Misty on her Morning walk. Once Pauline has gone off the phone I phone the doctors surgery and a Doctor will phone me back this morning.
Go on Pauline Get a grip Girl
Anyway the doctor phones back and we have a chat and she will write a prescription for some 1 mg Prednisolone so that I can taper at a slower dose and will also write a prescription for some antiseptic mouth wash for my gums.  I can collect these along with my repeat prescription when I go to the Health centre tomorrow for my Monthly Blood Test. So the rest of the day has been spent sat in the recliner watching day time TV and keep dozing on and off apart from when I made a cheese omelette for lunch.
A Cheese Omelette for lunch today
So apart from speaking to Pauline on the phone a couple of times during the day, A text message from Leanne  and Gervase Phoning me on his way home from work I have done Nothing today so not really much to write about today. a very lazy day of feeling sorry for myself, what I need is some sunshine and blue skies to cheer me up but according to the weather forecast that is not likely to happen until after the Easter weekend.

Anyway it is now nearly 5.30 so I will get this short journal posted and hopefully tomorrow,s will make more interesting reading for you so here is todays day in History image and also a new Autoimmune Image I did last night and will say Bye Bye untill tomorrow.

A kind of Escapism Sunday

So where does the blog title come from today, well today is the day in 1874 the Harry Houdini the great escape artist was born, also I am watching the TV Program " Escape to the country " on TV, and I am also escaping from this sore mouth and crappy feeling by going for a lie down, although I will say that I feel a bit better today than I did on Friday and Saturday, so hopefully the effects of the last two weeks are starting to ease.

Escape to the Country TV Program
Cheer up you miserable
old Man Frankie
It was a decent nights sleep last night, I got off to sleep about 11.30 and woke about 4.30 to use the Bathroom and also to take a couple of Paracetamol as I had this annoying ear ache, anyway got back off  to sleep and woke again about 7.45, Made a coffee and took back to bed where I lay listening to the radio and feeling totally "Sorry for Myself" until 9.45 when I decided that I needed to take control of myself and get my butt out of bed.

Well once out of bed it was get dressed, make a coffee and then into the lounge where I put on the Politic shows on the TV and send a text to Pauline.  Pauline phones back to say that she is Ok and Gordon was still in bed, He slept better last night and was not coughing and as congested as he has been so hopefully his cold is starting to ease off a bit.  Pauline was out on the common with Misty and it was cold and Windy and the common was still covered in Puddles.
Misty on Southsea Common yesterday ( Photo by Pauline)

In the Doldrums
anyway once we have finished talking on the phone, I go and get some Porridge with Manuka Honey for breakfast and then settle down with the laptop to catch up on the emails and facebook and also to catch up on my facebook games, I certainly do feel that I need to stop feeling so down about this stupid disease, mind you the messages of Support from the people in the Facebook Myositis Groups and also from friends and family really has helped to drag me out of my doldrums. so thank you friends

well once I have finished on the computer I go and get the slow cooker switched on, last night I had a lamb casserole which was very nice, there was enough Vegetable and stock left for me to add a chicken breast quarter to it today so tonight it will be a chicken casserole, again very tasty and easy to eat after having the three extractions at the dentist last monday, all three were from the centre of the top row of teeth and the gums are still tender to bite on  so it is easy to mash the casserole down to make it easier to eat.

Tonight,s Dinner
Whoo Hoo Shopping
Well time is getting on and it is 12.40 and Gervase phones to say he will be down between 1.30 and 2.00 so he will take me out to the shop and that will get me some fresh air and we can have  a drive along the seafront afterwards so I will look forward to that as I have been stuck indoors since Thursday so it will be nice to get out into the cold, damp air LOL. Anyway time then to get a shave and get changed ready for when Gervase gets here, and then we can go and get the few bits of shopping that I need for tomorrow.

Gervase arrives at about 2.15 and we decide that we will just take a short trip to the Asda store at Fratton today and then we can have a drive back along the sea front, so off we go and park in the Bottom level of the car park which means we are under cover from any rain storms and is a short walk with the trolley to the store.
The Asda Car Park
It is not that busy here today which is good as it will be easier to get round, Gervase needs to get some new bedding as they have a couple of Guest,s coming to stay next week for the Easter weekend. I have not got to get to much shopping so we are not in the store for long and then we are back out and gervase loads up the shopping and then we head home along the sea front, There is not a lot of people about as it is a very cold and grey day, but it is nice just to get out of the flat for some fresh air for a short while.
Gervase loading up the car
A dull and dreary day along an empty sea front today
anyway once we are back home we get the shopping put away and I make a coffee and then we sit and have a chat until Gervase needs to make a move and go and pick up Leanne from her Mums and I settle down to watch a movie "Are you being served" a movie made in 1977 Based on the TV sitcom of the same name starring Wendy Richard,s, Mollie Sugden, John Inman, Trevor Bannister and Frank Thornton.

Are you being served movie
well, that was a better day today, still feeling under the weather but am making progress, and I think the fresh air made a big difference. anyway I am not going to push my luck so as it is now 4.45 I will get this journal posted and then go for a lie down for an hour before i get tonight,s dinner served up. I do think that using the slow cooker is a really great idea at the moment, so will have a lovely chicken casserole  ready for 6.30. so until tomorrow I will say Bye Bye.

A bit of a Yo Yo Posting at the Moment.

One Day Here Next Day Missing.

Not the best of Times
But at least it keeps you on your toes. Anyway the reason for the lack of postings is that I  am not feeling 100% at the Moment, I just think that the events over the last couple of weeks are catching up with me. After my Neurologist appointment on Monday 11th it was decided to reduce my Prednisolone from 15 mg on alternate days to 10 mg on alternate days so that started on Wednesday the 13th. On the Friday I lost my Broadband and Land phone line, which caused me stress, and also Pauline had her Hospital appointment with the thyroid clinic, Next I had 3 extractions at the dentist on Monday the 18th and I seem to have picked up an ear infection and also my mouth is very sore so difficulty eating and on Friday it was Methotrexate day, so really am not feeling that great.

Off to see the Doctor
So Anyway I will be Phoning my GP  and getting an appointment to have a chat with him on Monday, and he will give me a prescription for some 1 mg Prednisolone so that I can taper down at a slower rate, in the meantime I will up my Prednisolone back up to 10 mg a day while I get over this yucky Period I am in, I know that my Neurologist will be OK with this as we have talked about it before. so that is why I will only be writing short Journals every day over the next week or two.
Giving Blood Work
It will also be interesting what my Blood Works will show next week as I have an appointment on Tuesday with Debbie  to give my Monthly Blood.

well it is another day of rest for me today, no energy whatever so it is a day of watching TV and feeling sorry for myself, still hopefully it will start to sort itself out next week and we can get back to normal (Whatever Normal is these days), anyway the up side to being stuck indoors is that the weather outside is not good so I am probably in the best place
Todays weather Dismal and Cold
so that is about it for today, time for a lie down, at least the Lamb Casserole is cooking away merrily in the slow cooker so that is Today,s and Tomorrows dinners taken care of, so I will add yesterday and Todays "Days in History" and will say tatty bye until Tomorrow.

Another Damp shopping Thursday.

So here we are on another Damp and dreary day here on the south coast of the UK.
Its not like this today folks
It looks like winter is making a return to the UK this weekend so get the Scarves and Gloves back out and to top it all I think I have picked up an ear infection, and also a sore throat, Oh well life goes on , but it is never easy. well anyway here is the weather forecast for the weekend,
The weather forecast up to Monday for Portsmouth
Do I have to get up
Well at least I had a decent sleep last night turned off the radio about 11.30 and slept through until 6.30 this morning, Got up for the bathroom and then back to bed and dozed until about 8.30 when I made a coffee and took back to bed to listen to the radio until getting up and into the lounge at 9.15. I send the morning text to Pauline and she phones back to say it is really cold out on the common this morning and that she will book a taxi for 11.00 to come and collect me for shopping down the city centre.

Wait For me
Once we are finished chatting I get some Chocolate stars for breakfast and then check out emails and facebook before getting a shave and getting dressed at 10.30 ready for when Pauline gets here.  I seem to have got a slight ear infection and also a sore throat today so will have to keep an eye on that, it could be that it is to much gargling with salt water the last couple of days after having the 3 extractions at the Dentist on Monday. anyway true to form Pauline arrives with the Taxi  at 11.10 so off we go to the city centre.

Pauline has to post a couple of letters first so we get the taxi to drop us off at the main post office at slindon street so that Pauline can post her letters and then we go into Wilkinsons to get some dog treats for Misty before heading over to the shopping arcade to get a couple of coffee,s from Boswells coffee shop .

Main Post office, Portsmouth
Boswells in the Cascades, Portsmouth
once we have had our coffee we make our way over to Morrisons at the Victory retail Park to get the shopping. It is very cold and damp out today so I am wrapped up warm with my hat, I push the wheelchair as far as Sainsburys and then Pauline pushes me the rest of the way.
Morrisons Victory Retail Park, Portsmouth
Give me your Money
Well we get the shopping trolley onto the front of the wheelchair and make our way round the store getting our shopping, once we have got what we needed we make our way to the checkout to pay for it before putting the shopping and the trolley into the lockup booth at the cafe area and go and get a coffee and a cake each, Well the trouble is the cakes are looking so nice that Pauline has a lemon and cream Muffin and I have a slice of walnut cake, It is not Gluten free but it is only a one time treat !!!!.

Cake For Lunch
Pauline enjoyed her Cake
Well that was excellent, once we have finished, we get the Taxi back home and then once the shopping is put away, we have a coffee and a chat and then I get the taxi to take Pauline back home. Once pauline has left I go for a lie down for 30 minutes before making a coffee and preparing the Vegetable for tonight,s dinner and then settling down to get todays Journal written. Tonight it will be sea bass with Potato and Cauliflower and  a cheese Sauce.
Well It is now 5 40 so time to get this journal posted so I will leave you with the other 3 Days in History for Tuesday, Wednesday and Today so they are now up to date, so until tomorrow and the dreaded Methotrexate I will say Adios.

Wednesday, March 20, 2013

Well what do you know Back on line after 5 days.

Whoooo Hoooo

Tosser
Well folks all I can say is " that due to circumstances beyond your Control ". I am back with my daily journal. on a more serious side I would like to extend my thanks to all of you who were concerned about my disappearance from face book and posted there concerns and messages on Facebook, and if I have not replied I do apologise. The situation was beyond my control as I lost my broadband and Landline Telephone service about 9.00 am on Friday Morning and It was not reconnected until about 9.30 last night. It seems that there were a large number of people who were affected in Portsmouth as the result of some person or persons deciding to damage one of the BT hubs and steal the cables for the scrap value, such is the world we live in.

Go Pauline Go
so let us have a quick recap of what you have all missed. Friday as you know is Methotrexate day for me so that was no different to any other Friday really, The only thing different was that Pauline had her appointment with her Doctor at the Thyroid clinic at the QA Hospital The outcome is that they have upped her medication to bring her levels down and in 6 weeks she will have another blood test and as long as her levels are Ok they will carry out the op to remove the nodule from the thyroid, the good news is that it is benign, Pauline will be in the hospital for 48 hours and then dispatched back home.

"Peace" Man
Saturday was really a non event as I spent most of the day recovering from the Methotrexate and the tapering of the Prednisolone, at least it will start to improve by tomorrow (Sunday), and also suffering from Facebook withdrawal symptom,s it is surprising how we all seem to miss technology when it goes wrong, How I ever survived the 1950,s 60,s with black and white 2 channel TV, and Snail Mail I will never know.

Well Sunday came and went, at least I felt a lot better than I did on Saturday, Gervase came and took me shopping in the afternoon and after we had done the shopping at Asda at Fratton we took a drive along the sea front before heading back home. That was a nice trip out although the weather was not that good as there were a few Rain showers about but at least it kept the traffic off the road

Asda at Fratton

Storm clouds forming as the Ferry from France enters Portsmouth Harbour.
My Happy Dentist
And so we get to Monday, still no Phone or Broadband, it is a good job that I do not need the phone to send the info from my reveal heart monitor to the QA Hospital, anyway I am up early today as I have an appointment at the Dentist at 9.00 am, Gordon and Pauline will collect me at about 8.45 to take me to the Dentist, Pauline will stay with me and Gordon will go and get my flat cleaned while I am at the Dentist and when we are finished, Me and Pauline will get A taxi back home, we are at the Dentist by 9.00 and I am called in about 9.05. I have to have 3 root extractions today where my teeth have broken and decayed.

A Nice afternoon sleep
Thank you Prednisolone anyway he gives me the injections and once everything is numb including my top lip and Nostril as it is three upper teeth that have to be extracted, he gets then Pulled, that was not so bad it was all over in 15 minutes and by 9.30 I am back outside with Pauline waiting for a taxi. well that is the worst bit over, I go back in about 4 to 5 weeks to have 3 fillings and then it will be a few visits to have a couple of plates made so hopefully all the work will be done by October at least it is all done on the NHS, so no large bills to pay. once back home Gordon and Pauline make there way home as they have a funeral to go to in the afternoon, and I go back to bed to rest until the feeling is back in my mouth and then it will be soup for the rest of the day, and just resting

well here we are now into Tuesday, I phoned Sky today and was told that they hope to have us all reconnected by Tomorrow (Wednesday) it is not just Sky customers that have been affected is is all those who were connected through the damaged hub/cables including BT, Sky, Talk Talk, Etc.

My Brother pat also came in to see me this morning to discuss the headstone we are going to get put onto mum and dads grave on the 2nd May which would be Mum,s 100th Birthday, The whole family are involved with this decision so we are pleased that we are able to do this to celebrate and remember there live,s also we are going to see if we can get my Grandparents grave tidied up and revamped as well. Here is the Proof from the Stone Mason.

Anyway it is shopping day down commercial road today with Pauline. I am feeling more like my old self today apart from the fact that my mouth is still a bit tender so still need soft food for a day or so yet, anyway Pauline will collect me at 11.30 and at least the weather is quite pleasant today, we need to go to the Civic offices first to pay my last care bill for February and then into commercial road to get a coffee and go into the Nationwide and then  make our way to Sainsburys to get the shopping, not a lot to get today thank goodness.

Once we have all the shopping we get a taxi back home and once indoors we have a coffee, and then Pauline makes her way home and I go for a lie down until 3.00. I get myself some dinner at 5.30 and have a cod fillet with Potato and a parsley sauce, that is easy and soft to eat and I enjoyed that, and at 7.30 I get a Taxi and go to spend a couple of Hours down with Gervase and Leanne, and Leanne,s dad is there as well so we have a nice evening and Dave (Leanne,s Dad) give me a lift home about 9.20. Once indoors I make a coffee and then get a message from Jack who lives opposite that the Phone service is back on.
No Energy

Whoo Hoo I also have my Broadband back so I phone chris next door to let him know, anyway it is getting late so have a nice hot chocolate and than go to bed at 11.30 to listen to the Radio for an hour before dropping of to sleep, I sure hope my body adapts to  the tapering of the Prednisolone soon otherwise I will spend more time resting and sleeping than I will being awake, so I will give it another week and then if necessary I will go back up one step and then taper at a slower rate of maybe by 1 mg per week for 5 weeks.

We are now up to date

Out walking Misty LOL
And so we are now back on track it is Wednesday, I had a decent nights sleep last night and woke about 7.30 but lazed in bed with a coffee until 9.15 when I got up and took a coffee into the lounge to send the text to Pauline and let her know that all is Ok and to ask how she and gordon are. Pauline phones back to say that she is out on the seafront with Misty.

Once I have finished talking with Pauline I get myself some Porridge for Breakfast and then take a nice leisurely walk round to the paper shop to get my Paper and then head back home where I make a coffee and settle down to read the Paper, I then log onto the laptop and catch up on 5 days of missed facebook games, Oh the excitement of such an active life, anyway at 12.00 I put on the Radio and listen to our chancellor "George Osborne" as it is the 2013 Budget day today and as expected it is the elderly, Disabled, Ill and poor who come of worse and the rich get richer, Oh well that was about what I expected so not really sure why I still bother to listen to it every year, probably force of habit I think.

Well that was a waste of Time, so off for a lie down before I start to catch up with the daily journal, at 2.00 I get some scrambled egg on a slice of toast for lunch and also a yoghurt, before getting the daily journal started, It is a case of just briefly catching up on the missing 5 days. I stop for a coffee and to get the vegetable prepared for dinner tonight, it will be sea bream fillet tonight with Potato and a cauliflower cheese, once I have done that I check the post that has just been delivered, there are two letters today, on is from the Myositis Support group with the forms for the 25th Gala dinner and Conference at Oxford in July, so will get those filled i and sent back this weekend and the second letter was from the Department of works and pensions to inform me that my state pension has increased from £108.67 to £111.00 per week from April !!!!! Wow !!!!

So there we are then folks, you can see how exciting my last 6 days have been, it is now 4.15 so I will get this journal posted, and then I will be ready to watch Pointless at 5.15 after I have washed  the lunchtime dishes, So Until tomorrow I will say tatty bye and leave you with the days in history illustrations for Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday I will catch up with Yesterdays and todays Tomorrow (Maybe)
