At Least a decent day today

Hello again folks and welcome to a brighter Sunday.

Well at least the sun is shining and it is warmer today, so need to make the most of it so What do I do ? I stay in bed until 9.30 this morning before getting up and making a coffee and some porridge to take into the lounge.
Well, as is usual with the sun comes insanity and once again we are landed in Southsea with "The Naked Bike Ride" now this throws up some scary sights as you can imagine, apparently they do this every year to protest that the roads are not safe for cyclist,s

Not a pretty sight
anyway there we are that is the depths at which our Bank holiday has descended to anyway , on a more positive note tomorrow there is the Charity abseiling down the spinnaker tower at Gunwharf Quays on the waterfront in Portsmouth. I will hopefully be there to support the people who are abseiling. As far as I know the following people will be abseiling  for Team Muscle raising funds for the Myositis support Group UK. You can visit there just giving pages to donate.

2 pm Dave Oakley, Laura Oakley and Andy Jordan.
3 pm Catherine king, Karen Davies, Phillip Trevellion, Chris Coleman and Jerry Smith.

4 pm Simon Chadwick, Quentin Marty, Paul Franklin, Boo Holmquest and Les Oakley

I got the times and names from the "Team Muscle" face book page, the link is at the bottom of this Journal.

well it has been a decent day today and this afternoon my son Gervase came round and took me over to Sainsburys at Farlington to get some shopping and then on the way home we went to "Pets at home to get some items for His and leanne,s cats, I saw some
little Bunny Rabbits and I want one. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

At least the sun is shining

Keeping warm
Well here we are on Saturday the 25th May and the start of another Bank Holiday. the good bit is that the Sun is shining, the bad part is that it is still very cold for the time of year. it is only 15C outside in the Sun and earlier on when I got up at 8.30 it was even colder and the heating was on, Higher than normal heating bills this quarter I am afraid

Alternative Energy
I was reading in the paper and heard it on the Radio that this winter just gone it was colder than normal and the gas supplies in this country were down to 7 hours of gas left at one point, that is the trouble now, successive Governments have been privatising our industries and not putting any investment into renewable and alternative energy that we are having to rely on 95% of our energy being imported from Europe. Not a good outlook for future generation,s

Wakey, Wakey Frankie
Well after Yesterdays "Day of Flatulence" yesterday evening my digestive system had settled down so I enjoyed my dinner at 7.00 pm and settled down to watch the TV until 10.30 when I went to bed, listened to the radio for an hour before getting of to sleep, I slept pretty well, woke at 3.30 for the bathroom and then got back to sleep and slept through uninterrupted until 7.30 this morning, when I made a cup of tea and took back to bed before getting up at 8.30 and going into the lounge.

well once I am in the lounge I get the Tv on to watch the news and then send the text to Pauline, who text back to say she will phone later when she is taking Misty out for her morning walk, I then decide that I will carry on with the "Colpermin" for the next couple of days until I am sure that my IBS has settled down again (until the next time) The doctor prescribed the Colpermin last time I had digestive problems, which is all to do with my twisted stomach and they work a treat to bring the flatulence under control, I will also make sure I stick rigidly to my Gluten Free Diet and not get carried away when I see tasty ready meals in the shops (at my age I should know better)

Reading my Morning paper
Well I get myself some "Chocolate Stars" Gluten free cereal for Breakfast which I can eat 30 minutes after taking a Colpermin tablet, as I am eating breakfast Pauline phones to say that she and Gordon are both OK, Pauline is out on the common with Misty and you can tell it is very windy out there and you can hear it blowing while Pauline is on the phone and she was saying that Gordon is busy finishing off the painting in the lounge, once Pauline has finished on the phone I go round and get my Morning Paper and then settle down with the laptop to check out emails and also facebook.

My Cheese Omelette for lunch
Well the rest of the morning is spent watching TV, Reading the paper and playing games on Facebook ( What an exciting life I lead) anyway at 1.30 I take another Colpermin and then I go out into the kitchen to prepare the vegetable for tonight,s dinner which will be Salmon with Potato and cauliflower cheese all made and cooked with fresh ingredients, and then I make a nice tasty cheese omelette for lunch at 2.00 with a nice cup of tea.

Well once lunch is over I go and get the washing up done, get myself a nice cup of coffee and then I settle down with the Tv to watch a movie. I am watching a very emotional movie called "God bless The Child" It is a very good movie, it is a 1988 made for TV Movie starring "Mare Winningham", "Grace Johnston", and "L Scott Caldwell".
"God bless the child" 1988
Painkiller are Go
well there we are then It is another day of rest, and keeping the weight of my leg as directed by my GP, and then tomorrow I will be going out with gervase to get the shopping, and then on Monday I should be able to get around walking a bit more. anyway that is the plan, and the good thing is that today is the second day without pain killers,

well it is now 4.00 pm and there is an hour to go with the Movie and I am really enjoying it a very good movie about homelessness and poverty, anyway, I am going to get this Journal finished and posted for today so until tomorrow I will say Tatty Bye.

A Day to forget/

♬ ♬ ♬ It is another Friday ♬ ♬ ♬
♬ ♬ ♬ A Methotrexate High Day ♬ ♬ ♬
♬ ♬ ♬ la la Lala, la la Lala ♬ ♬ ♬

And yes folks here we are on our favourite day of the week, the Day that I so look forward to and have done for the last 2 years. "NOT"
Well It was not a bad nights sleep last night, and I woke up this morning felling not to bad, and my right leg was not aching as much this morning, so I have been able to go all day without taking pain killers, but the down side today has been that it is very Windy, and I do not mean the weather, I think it was the fact that I had baked beans for lunch yesterday down at Morrisons and I also brought some "Actimel" drinks as well so I think that also was a mistake as I am paying for it today.
"Ooop,s"

I think the change to my diet yesterday and the fact that the last 3 days I have cheated and had ready meals for my dinners is coming back to haunt me and to remind me that I must stick strictly to my "Gluten Free Diet" so I guess it is my own fault for being so weak willed anyway as I said it is going to be a very windy day until my digestive system settles back down again.

Anyway that is enough of my Morning habits today, once I am up I make a coffee and go into the lounge where I text pauline, and then settle down to have some "Gluten Free" Cereal for breakfast before settling down to check out the emails and facebook, then it is a morning spent watching old episodes of friends on the TV until about 11.30 when I decide to go for a cat nap for an hour before getting some lunch.

well I needed that as It has been a very uncomfortable morning today so am not in the best of moods, anyway I have taken some 'Gaviscon tablets" so that helps and hopefully once I have had some lunch my digestion will settle down, if nothing else I have learnt a lesson today and that is when you find something that works for you "Stick with it " anyway I get a couple of "Gluten Free" crispbread for lunch with some "John West" boneless Sardines so that will help

A Grumpy Frank
well once I have had lunch I make a nice cup of Peppermint tea  and then Pauline phones to say that she has not gone to Salisbury today as she has felt a bit under the weather but she is Ok, I think it is this waiting around to have her Thyroid done is getting her down and also the medication, anyway she has an appointment with her doctor this evening, and Gordon will be home in time to take her so that is ok, anyway we have a chat and then I settle down to get this journal written and posted it is a short Journal today as I am in a bit of a grumpy mood today as I cannot stand to feel under the weather, but I will be OK once my system settles down which it is doing thank goodness.

well that is about it for today, everything seems to be settling down and normality is returning to the household ( well a myositis normal anyway) anyway I am going to get myself a nice warm coffee and then I will get this Journal posted before Taking my "Methotrexate" and then settle down for an evening of TV and Facebook so until tomorrow I will drink by coffee and wave bye Bye for another day.

See you all Tomorrow

And winter returns again today.

The british holiday weather.
Yes You heard right, winter has returned once again to our fair Island, Rain, Hail, Gale force winds, you name it we have it today and tomorrow, ( I blame the Government LOL) anyway, here on the South Coast it is cold and breezy with a few outbreaks of Sunshine, but seeing as it is coming towards the end of may it is well below normal temperatures but then again it is another Bank Holiday weekend this weekend so not surprising really .

This weekend there is a charity abseiling event  down the spinnaker tower at the Gunwharf shopping centre on Bank Holiday Monday, There are several people (team Muscle) abseiling to raise funds for the "myositis support group" and Pauline and Gordon will be taking me down there to support them.
The Spinnaker Tower, Portsmouth
A Good Nights sleep
well it was a decent nights sleep last night, and I slept through from about 11.30 to 7.30 this morning, that is the one thing that is positive from tapering the Prednisolone and that is I am sleeping better at night, trouble is I am sleeping more during the day as well, still must not complain, I have to take Paracetamol at night before going to bed to ease the aches in my leg and I also take a paracetamol in the morning as well and that helps to manage the aches during the day.

Well once I was awake I went and made a coffee and took back to bed where I lay listening to the radio, and also had a visit from next doors cat who came in for a few minutes. however at 8.30 I got up and went into the lounge with another coffee and some cereal for breakfast and sent a text to Pauline, Pauline sent a text back to say that she would phone when she was back home after taking Misty for her morning walk.

Getting ready to go shopping
Well after breakfast I settle down with the laptop to check out emails and Facebook and then Pauline phones at 9.30 to say that she will book a Taxi at 10.45 to come and collect me and we can go shopping down the city centre and then Morrisons, so that is Ok although I will not be doing any Walking today so will be confined to the wheel chair. Anyway at 10.15 it is time to go and have a shave and then get ready for when Pauline arrives.  Pauline arrives at about 10.55 and we get everything in the Taxi and then the Taxi refuses to start, I did feel sorry for the driver but at least it was one of our usual ones so he contacts the office and another Taxi soon arrives and again it is one of our regular drivers so he soon gets us down to the city centre.

Shopping in Morrisons
once down town we walk around the shops and get what we want and then make our way over to morrisons where we have lunch and then get the shopping done, while we are in Morrisons we meet Pauline,s sister Janet and her Husband Fred. we have a good old natter and then carry on with the shopping, once we have everything we get it paid for and then once outside we get a taxi back home.

Fresh fruit and vegetable area
Writing Today,s Journal
When we are in the Taxi heading home Gordon rings Pauline to say he is back in Portsmouth so he will meet us at my place and sure enough gordon is waiting when we get home, once indoors I make the coffee,s and then we have a chat and get the shopping put away before Pauline and Gordon head home and I make another coffee and then settle down to get todays journal written and posted as it is nearly 4.00 before I get it started.
Well the time has really gone fast today and it is now 5.30 so I will get todays journal posted and then settle down in the recliner for a lazy evening in front of the TV, so until tomorrow I will say Bye, Bye.

The day after the Fall

well here we are stuck indoors with a very painful right leg from behind the knee down to the ankle, the moral of the story is " Do not fall over" so it looks like I am stuck indoors for the day with the TV and the laptop, you may ask well what is different then, well normally on my days indoors I can get round to get my daily paper and also potter around in the garden , but as it is very painful when I put any weight on my leg that is a No No Today,

So here we are stuck indoors with time to think about nothing in particular and everything in general, anyway it is a good time to get sorting all my family history research items and get them into some kind of order, so that is what todays blog is going to be about as nothing exciting is going to happen today, and I do not really want to sit here glued to the TV Screen.

I started to research my family history in about 2008, the reason was that we lost touch with my paternal family in about 1955 2 years after my Father died, we kept in touch with my Mums family "The Hubbards" but lost contact with my Fathers family "The Smiths" so 5 years after Mum passed away I decided to try and trace my family heritage on both sides of the family and so the journey began.

Well it is now 2.45 and I got a lot of Sorting out of the family history bit and pieces done and archived, all the birth, marriage and death certificates, Letters, Photo,s etc, many of them bringing back memories of days gone bye, anyway I have decided that I need to carry on with writing the family history books for the family.
Time to get the next book started
I have written 6 books for the family that I have found around the world, many I have never met and some I have not seen since the 1950,s  I have also produced 6 DVD,s of our family History and before I was diagnosed with DM in May 2011 I had got the format worked out to write book number 7 so will now start to get that written this year.

Below are the books and DVD.s that I have done so far, These were compiled for family members and are fully illustrated.
My Maternal Family from Kent
My Family from 1914 to 2010
My Paternal Grandfather his Naval Career
A Family Ancestor Robert Fowler

George Dedman His military career
Benjamin Jupp. His Royal Marine Career
Those are the books I have written and printed so far, and below are the DVD,s I have compiled and produced.

So that is about it for today a very productive day of getting everything sorted out and archived and also getting ready for the next phase of the ever growing Family History research. Below is the next book that will be written,
This book will look at the main people in the family history from John Michael who was born and came from Prussia through to my paternal and maternal grand parents, and so the story revolves

so now that I have totally bored you all I will get this journal posted and take my leave until tomorrow so until then I will say Tatty Bye.
