foot loose and Fancy Free

Ah Morning Coffee
And so we go into Wednesday, a good Nights sleep last night and woke about 7.30 this morning, at least I can have a lie in this morning, at 8.00 I get up and make a coffee to take back to bed, where I switch on the radio and just have a nice peaceful hour listening to the Julian Clegg Show. I send a Text to Pauline at 8.30 t let her know I am OK, Pauline phones to say that her and gordon are just off to collect her sister Fran as they are Going to her Brothers  Funeral today. so I stay in bed until 9.30 when I decide I had better get up.

Well at least I am out of bed so that is a good start, the other good thing is I can have my Favourite breakfast of Gluten Free Chocolate stars, as I managed to get some on Sunday at Sainsburys so that is a bonus, so a dish of those and a coffee and into the lounge I go, I put on the TV to watch the end of "Heir Hunters" while I have my Breakfast.

Having a chat with an old workmate
Once I have had breakfast I get out the laptop and check out my emails and then log on to facebook to see who is around and also to play a few facebook games, what an exciting life I lead, however at 11.00 I decide that as the weather is not going to get any brighter I will go round and get my Morning Paper, before having a coffee.
Well I go round to get my Paper and some milk, it is a very dull day today compared to yesterday and a lot colder, anyway on the way back I see one of the lady,s I used to work with a few years ago, so we have a chat and then I head indoors to make a coffee and settle down to read the paper and get the crosswords done.

All Ready to Go
The morning has really gone by very fast and at 12.30 I have a Banana before deciding that I need to get myself read for my Podiatry appointment at Eastney Health Centre at 1.30, so I phone and book a taxi to collect me at 1.15 and go and get myself ready to go out. and at 1.10 the taxi arrives, and so in I get and off we go.

Podiatry
well we arrive at the Health Centre at 1.20 and so I have a 10 minute wait, sitting in the waiting room it is very quiet as there are only two other people there and all the help desks are closed as there lunch time is 12.30 to 1.30 although the community nurses and Physio,s, and Podiatry are still functioning. anyway the Podiatrist comes out to collect me at 1.30 on the dot, very punctual, It is not my normal Podiatrist "Ross" This time it is a lady Podiatrist, anyway we go into the treatment room where she works on my feet for 15 minutes, they feel so much better afterwards, and she wants me to make another appointment for 8 weeks, so a good visit.

So we now have happy feet So I go outside and Phone for a taxi to take me back home, and I am back indoors by 2.20. so it is now time for a spot of lunch so I have some scrambled egg with a couple of Gluten Free Crisp bread and then just check out facebook before going for a lie down at 3.30 until 4.00. It has been a good day so far so at 4.00 I make a "Gluten free" hot Chocolate and then fire up the laptop to get todays journal written and posted. I get a text from Pauline about 4.20 to say that they are back home and she is going for "40 winks" ( A cat nap), and then at 4.35 Gervase phones to make sure I am Ok.

So not that exciting today but tomorrow it will be shopping down the city centre with Pauline so until tomorrows journal I will say Bye Bye

off to the doctors today.

Hello one and all and as you can probably tell I have an appointment with my GP today ref my Digestion and also the Aches/Pains in my upper legs/thighs/hips. one would think I was falling to pieces, and sometimes if I overdo the walking it certainly feels that way

It's too early.
Anyway that appointment is not until 10.30 so lets get back to the present time. I had a decent nights sleep last night and was asleep by 11.30.I woke once during the night for the bathroom and then slept through until 7.30, so almost 8 hours last night, which for me is pretty good, anyway as I have a 10.30 appointment with my GP I get myself out of bed and into the lounge by 8.30 with a coffee and some porridge for breakfast.

Nearly Ready
Once breakfast is over I phone Pauline and she has booked a taxi for 10.10 to come and collect me and then we will go to the Eastney Health Centre for my appointment with the doctor. so it is now 9.00 so I have 30 minutes to check out emails and facebook before I need to get into the bathroom and get ready for when Pauline comes. I get a wash, shave, and get dressed and am all ready by 10.00 and I then make a cup of tea, and at 10.10 I get a text from Pauline to say she is on the way here to collect me.

Pauline arrives at 10.15 and I get in the taxi and we are of to the doctors appointment. we arrive about 10.25 and once in the waiting room we only have a short wait before it is my turn to go in to see the doctor.
Eastney Health Centre. (Stock Photo)
Once in to see the doctor we first have a chat about my Digestion and Bowel Movements, I have been on long term Lactulose due to medication over the last 3 to 4 years including Diclofenac, Codeine and co-codamol  among others when I damaged my back in 2006 and then the medication with this Dermatomyositis which all seem to have constipation as a side effect, anyway since I have been tapering the Prednisolone and going Gluten free My Digestion Etc has seemed to improve, so I have been Laxative free for over 3 weeks now but still having some problems which I think is due to lack of Fibre as I still have some minor swallowing issues, so I have been prescribed a fibre supplement to take (Fybogel)  so hope that does the trick so that was a positive outcome

A healthy blood works.
The negative side to the visit was the problem with the walking and the Ache/pains in my  upper legs/Thigh,Hip and occasionally in the calf Muscles, The doctor does not think it is a lack of calcium and gave me a form to get blood works done to check for any Muscle inflammation  that might necessitate going back up on my Prednisolone as this [problem has only occurred and got worse since I dropped below 20 mg daily which was last Autumn.

Once we are out of the doctors, we phone for a taxi and he takes us home, once indoors we get the wheel chair ready and then decide that as it is a nice day that we will go down to Asda at fratton to do the Tuesday shopping. I decide to walk to Fratton pushing the wheel chair and then when my legs have had enough Pauline will then push me, in actual fact taking it easy I manage to walk from Home to the bridge centre which pleases me and then Pauline only has to push me around the store to get the shopping. I take some photos along the way.

Fratton Road looking North from the Bridge Centre.
Once we are at the bridge centre Pauline pops in to a charity shop to have a browse while I wait outside, and as you can see by the Photographs is is a nice sunny day with bright blue skies, anyway before we start the shopping we have a coffee and a couple of biscuits and then go and put my prescription for the Fybogel and also some Methotrexate into the Asda chemist so that we can collect the med,s after we have done the shopping.
A Happy Checkout Girl
we get around asda and get what we want once we are nearly finished Gordon arrives and takes over wheelchair duties. anyway we get the shopping finished . Pay for it, Get the medication from the Pharmacy department and then get the shopping and the wheelchair into the car and Gordon takes us back home.

A Nice cup of Tea
Once home ee get the shopping put away and then have a chat and coffee before Pauline and gordon head of home about 2.20. Once pauline and gordon have gone I make a coffee and then get the washing up done and prepare the potatoes for tonight,s dinner which will be boiled new buttered Potatoes with A Salmon fillet and a parsley sauce. however once that is all prepared I make a cup of tea and settle down to get this journal written and Posted for today, so until tomorrow and another visit to Eastney Health Centre  I will say Tatty Bye.

Monday, April 22, 2013

and it is another nice sunny Monday.

This could be me next week.

Yes Folks it is nice weather again today, if this carries on I will have to go and get a pair of Secateurs so that I can attempt to start trimming the shrubs in the back yard. It really is a nice spring day today and a temperature of about 16 degrees C but in the back yard it has reached 21 Degrees C in the Sun, this was at about 1.00 pm.
Its to early to get up.

Well it was not a bad nights sleep last night, woke at 3.30 ish for the bathroom and then went back to sleep until about 7.00 when I woke and after using the bathroom, I made a coffee and then went back to bed to listen to the radio and doze a bit, at 8.30 I sent the morning text to Pauline and then at about 9.00 I got up to get some breakfast and a coffee and into the Lounge.
Todays Breakfast

I have decided to have a nice bowl of Gluten Free Porridge this morning and so I ge that made and then take that and a coffee into the lounge and put the TV on to watch a episode of "Heir Hunters" which is a documentary of company,s who trace missing heirs, a lot of good Family history research tips in this program, anyway I finish my porridge, just as Pauline Phones, she and gordon are late getting up this morning after a good weekend with friends in Weymouth.

Getting the morning Paper
Pauline is OK and she is pleased that the weather is getting better, anyway we have a chat and she enjoyed the weekend away with Gordon in Weymouth, and also she had a good time with Agnes who is the lady they stayed with in Weymouth, and in case Agnes reads this journal I would like to say " Thank you for the Postcard"  Gordon gave it to me this morning and I thought it was so funny. anyway Pauline said Gordon would be round sometime after 10.30 for the Monday 2 hours cleaning, so that gives me time to get my shoe,s on and get round to get my paper.

Once I have the paper and also some milk I make my way back home and then settle down with some youtube videos of Brenda Lee on the Smart TV, and I watch these until Gordon arrives at about 11.00 when I go and get a couple of coffees made. My favourite Video was a 1980,s concert "Legends in Concert" Brenda lee was great in the 1960,s and as good in the 1980,s and still going strong, she is only a year younger than me. one of the Greats.
Brenda lee in the "Legends in Concert" show 1980,s
Your doing a good job Gordon
Once Me and Gordon have had our coffee,s and a chat gordon starts the cleaning, and I settle down to read the paper. It is a good morning and we have a good old chat and ponce gordon has the main cleaning done we have another coffee before Gordon vacuum's the bedroom and lounge and then washes the kitchen and Bathroom Floor. once Gordon has finished he gets his cleaning gear into his car and then heads back home to Pauline.

Mother (Edith Annie Smith Nee Hubbard)
Once Gordon has left at about 1.00 I settle down in the recliner to read the Morning paper and also to get the crosswords done before I make a cup of tea and get a nice chicken and bacon Sandwich for lunch at 2.00. Once I have had lunch I decide to start getting todays journal written, as I will not be doing much more today. while I am writing the Journal I have a phone call from my Cousin Mike in Fareham, I had a Phone call from Mikes Sister Maureen From Canada yesterday evening so that is a coincidence anyway me and Mike have a nice chat about the get together in Fareham this weekend to celebrate what would have been my Mums 100th Birthday on the 2nd May. It is the only time the family can all get together. Mum Passed away in 2005 at the age of 92. it does not seem like it has been 8 years.

NOTE

Due to the family events on Saturday there will be no Daily Journal on Saturday the 28th March.

well that is about it for today folks, It is nearly 3.30 so will get this journal posted before settling down with a coffee and some episodes of "keeping up appearances" so until tomorrow I will say Goodbye.

Sunday, April 21, 2013

and another excellent day.

well so here we are again, and it was a good saturday followed by an even better sunday, Today has been a great day for me, and although my right hip and thigh has been playing up, I think that my body is starting to adjust to the slow tapering of the prednisolone, anyway That is my theory anyway.

Well yesterday was rounded off by a god evening of TV and facebook games, plus watching 3 episodes from series 1 of "Miranda" being shown on the "Gold" Channel. after that a good nights sleep, waking at 7.30 when I made a cup of coffee and stayed lazing in bed with the Ipad and the local radio until I got up for breakfast at 9.30.

Series One "Miranda" starring Miranda Hart.
After breakfast I did the washing up and made another coffee before checking out my emails and facebook, while watching the start of the London Marathon, where there was a 30 second silence by the runners and spectators at the start in honour of the victims of the Boston Marathon
30 second silence at the start line of the London 2013 Marathon.
after a very relaxing morning Pauline phones to say that they will be leaving Weymouth to drive back to portsmouth this afternoon and then Gervase Phones to say he will be round between 12.00 and 1.00 to take me shopping and we are going to go up to Sainsbury's in Farlington as they have a good Gluten free section. so it is now 11.45 so I go and get myself ready for when Gervase arrives. Gervase gets here about 12.30 so I am all ready and off we go to Sainsbury's.
The roads are fairly quiet today

we have a good hours shopping in Sainsbury' and I get some Gluten free apple pies and Ginger Biscuits plus the other shopping I need including a nice Lemon sole fillet for dinner tonight, Gervase gets what he needs and then we get it loaded in the car and make our way home. Once we get home I get the shopping put away and then gervase is off home to leanne and I get a nice lunch of scrambled egg with a couple of crispbread.

well the rest of the afternoon passed without any problems I had a bit of a lie down for an hour and then decided at 4.00 that I needed to get this journal written and posted, It is a short journal as It seems that the Google blogger is giving me a few problems so It is time to get it finished and posted while I can, so Until tomorrow I will say Bye Bye.

Saturday, April 20, 2013

And Another milestone reached with the Daily Journal.

Hello again folks and here we are with another Saturday upon us and wonders of wonders it is really nice weather today, clear blue skies and Sunshine so long may it last.
A really nice day today
Let me stay in bed.
The Photograph above is the view this morning from my back yard, it is so nice to see clear blue skies and hopefully that will last all day long. Now back to the present. I had a restless night last night, woke a couple of times for the bathroom, must stop drinking so much coffee in the evening while playing about on facebook, anyway eventually had some interrupted sleep from about 4.30 to 8.30 so that was probably a total of 6 hours last night which is about the norm for me. anyway made a coffee and stayed in bed until about 9.30 listening to the radio before getting up and getting dressed.

Getting washed and groomed
Once I was up I get a cup of tea and some Porridge for breakfast before getting out the laptop and checking my e-mails, and also seeing who is on facebook. Once I have finished that I go out to the kitchen to get the washing up done and then go and have a coffee outside in the sunshine, it is still quite chilly so do need a coat on, after that I go and get a wash and groomed and then ready to go and get the morning paper.

Oh well time to rest the legs now
As it is a nice day I decide that I would take a slightly longer route to get the paper today, which was probably not the best idea on a saturday after the fridays methotrexate, anyway I get to the paper shop, get the paper and go back home, although the legs are very achey today I did enjoy the walk in the Sun, On afterthoughts I should have taken the wheelchair and could have spent an hour in Milton Park reading the paper, Oh well may think about that tomorrow if the weather stays nice.

One of my Favourites
Once back indoors I settle down with the paper and at about 11.30 Pauline rings from Weymouth to say that that Her and Gordon are On and that the weather is nice down there, and that they had a good evening with Agnes and a couple of other friends, once I had finished talking to pauline I went back to the Paper and then spent an hour doing the Weekend Puzzles and also the crossword, I have left one crossword to do later on this evening. at 12.30 I have a Banana and also put on you tube on the "Smart TV" to watch/Listen to some of the songs and stage performances by "Johnny Tillotson" from the 1950,s and 1960,s.

Samsung Smart TV
I really am thankful that I decided to pay the extra few Pounds to get the smart TV as it really was worth it, You would think that with all the satellite TV channels these day you would be able to find something on the TV worth watching but after searching through this morning I can honestly say that there was nothing that I found that would be worth while watching for me so thank Goodness for Smart TV and DAB Radio.

Entrance to Fratton Park in
Frogmore Road
Well as it is such a nice afternoon I decide at 3.00 to take a coffee outside to enjoy the fresh air and sunshine, and to see the crowds of people going of to watch the football at Fratton Park. It is the last home Game of the season and also Portsmouth Football Club has been taken over by the Portsmouth Football Trust and is now out of Administration and is the biggest fan owned football club in England. although we will be playing in Division two next season at least the club is still in existence so "Play Up Pompey" I have been supporting Portsmouth football club since being taken to my first Match at Fratton Park by my Father in 1949. and was going to matches at fratton park and many other football grounds across the country until about 1998-99, when the money men became involved and it became to expensive to go.

It certainly looks like there is going to be a large crowd at the stadium today and hopefully not to much trouble with rowdy drunks although as I am sat here writing this journal with the window open I can here a lot of Police/ambulance Sirens going off and the Police spotter plane circling about overhead. any way Good Luck Pompey.

Well it is now just gone 4.00 pm so time to get this journal finished and posted, Well it has been a good day today even with a lot of aches and pains in my leg and hip, and so I have enjoyed the sunshine, it is surprising how a decent sunny day can really uplift peoples spirits (Make mine a Brandy) anyway as I was saying a really good day and I have enjoyed it, I made a egg sandwich about 3,30 and will have dinner  about  7.00 pm so that is all good, One other nice surprise was to see that today the Daily Journal reached just over 50, 000 visitors, so That pleased me and also the daily visits are increasing on a monthly basis so Thank You to everyone who takes the trouble to read my Daily Journal.

Well so it is time to call it a day now I think, it is 4.20 and there is now something on TV that I am watching it started at 4.00 and it is a episode of a TV series " Judge John Deed" starring "Martin Shaw"

Judge John Deed. 2001 - 2007 BBC. (29 episodes over 6 series)
So I am going to get this Journal Posted and settle down to watch the rest of the program so until tomorrow I will say Tatty Bye.

Yummy, Yummy,
Pills in my Tummy
Yes Folks it is another Freaky Friday, and as we all know by now Today is Methotrexate day, so not my favourite day of the week. anyhow I am going to take it after Supper Today so hopefully that will enable me to sleep through the first few hours of the Yuckyness, mind you the last time I left it until the evening I could not get to sleep but my Prednisolone dosage was a lot higher then so hopefully this time it may work better for me.

The First Coffee of the day
well it was a decent nights sleep last night, although I did wake at 1.00 am and found that I had dropped of to sleep about 11.30 without turning of the radio so switched that off and went back to sleep and slept through until 6.30 so a really decent nights sleep, so out of bed, into the bathroom and then the kitchen to make a coffee and then back to bed and listened to the radio until 8.45 when I sent the morning text to Pauline.

Hi Ho, Hi Ho, To
Weymouth they did go
I eventually get out of bed and get dressed before going into the kitchen to make another coffee and get some Gluten Free Porridge for Breakfast, and then into the lounge, where I settle down with the radio and checked out my emails and then Facebook on the laptop. After I have been on the computer about 30 minutes, the phone rings and it is Pauline to say that they got up to Salisbury OK. Pauline and Gordon have a couple of houses to do this morning and then they are off down to Weymouth to visit Agnes for the weekend, so hope they have a nice couple of days before driving home on Sunday.

Here comes the rain "AGAIN"
Once I had spoken to Pauline I got my coat on and took a walk round to get the morning Paper, I have left it later today and it is after 11.00 am, but I should have gone earlier when the sun was out because as I leave the flat, the sky clouds over and it is trying to rain, you can feel the fine moisture in the air falling down so I do not dilly dally I get there and back as fast as my little legs will cary me, luckily it does not actually rain so that is a relief, anyway once I am back indoors I make a coffee and then settle down with a coffee to read the Paper, Needless To say the papers are reporting on the increased security for the London Marathon on this Sunday.

Get the washing up done
Well I read the paper and do the crossword with the radio playing in the background and then at 1.00 I go for a lie down for 45 minutes before going and getting some scrambled Eggs and some toast for lunch with a nice cup off tea, Lunch went down well so it was now time to get the washing up done and after that I will prepare the Cauliflower and Broccoli ready for tonight,s dinner of a nice Scottish Salmon Fillet, once that had been done I make another coffee and then into the lounge to catch up on some facebook games until 3.30 when I start todays Journal,

Train is running late Gervase
Pauline rings to say that they made good time from Salisbury to Weymouth and will be there in 10 min,s, and then at 4.50 gervase phones to say he is on the way home from work, His train is running about 45 minutes late so he is hoping he can make some time up as Leanne and he are out to a friends birthday bash tonight. However it is now 5.10 so I am going to finish this journal and get it posted before watching Pointless at 5.15, I will get dinner ready for 7.00 pm and then after that I will be taking my Methotrexate, so until tomorrow I will say Cheerio.
